Fans of Harry Potter can now relive the epic final battle against Voldemort with a new board game! Created by MinaLima – the team responsible for the beautiful graphic design in the Harry Potter films – Defenders of Hogwarts lets 2 to 5 players cast spells and fight as they experience the iconic showdown.
For nearly thirty years, the world of Harry Potter has expanded beyond the original books into movies, TV shows, plays, and video games – including popular titles based on the films and new stories like Hogwarts Legacy. Now, a famous scene from the Harry Potter universe is getting the board game treatment.
Harry Potter is Getting a New Board Game
MinaLima, the graphic design studio known for its work on the Harry Potter films, has announced a new board game called Defenders of Hogwarts. The game is based on the epic battle from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, letting players take on the roles of Hogwarts defenders or the Dark Forces and try to change the outcome. Players will practice casting spells and strategically preparing for the final showdown. Designed for 2–5 players, a typical game is expected to take around 90 minutes to play.
The official MinaLima product page doesn’t offer many details about the Defenders of Hogwarts board game. However, it seems the game will involve exploring Hogwarts, allowing players to move around a map of the school. The website also revealed the game’s box art, which features Dementors approaching Hogwarts. While an official release date hasn’t been announced, MinaLima plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign soon to fund the game.
With the Wizarding World growing beyond the original Harry Potter books, new stories have emerged. The Fantastic Beasts films introduced a new main character and a younger Albus Dumbledore, while the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child focuses on Harry Potter’s son, taking place nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
