  • Fans hope Kirby, Panettiere’s character, could return in Scream 7, appreciating her strong, honest portrayal.

Fans of horror movies are keen on following the acting careers of those involved in the Scream series, and it so happens that Hayden Panettiere, remembered for her role as beloved character Kirby Reed, is set to appear in the upcoming suspenseful film titled Sleepwalker.

Reportedly, Panettiere portrays Sarah, a married woman and mother whose abusive spouse is in a coma following a car accident. The film’s title hints at Sarah’s condition: she sleepwalks, leading to chaos as she struggles to discern reality from her dreams. Given the terrifying nature of sleepwalking, this premise promises an intriguing cinematic experience.

As an avid cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the captivating film “Sleepwalker” is being jointly produced by Appian Way Productions, Leonardo DiCaprio’s esteemed production company, and Verdi Productions. According to recent updates from Deadline, this masterpiece, beautifully captured in Rhode Island, has wrapped up its filming process.

Following numerous announcements regarding the cast of “Scream 7”, speculation is rife among fans as to whether the character Kirby might make an appearance in the upcoming horror sequel. A number of original characters are slated to return, including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Chad Meeks-Martin, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Scott Foley, and Matthew Lillard. The question remains as to why Kirby is not reprising her role. At present, there’s no news on her status in the film. Fans have been brainstorming ways for Stu to return, and many are eager to see Kirby again, given she’s now an FBI agent who could help track down Ghostface. Fans admire Kirby’s straightforward personality so much that they would even enjoy a “Scream” spinoff centered around this character.

Despite the fact that Panettiere has gained fame for embodying the strong-willed and complex character of Kirby in Scream, who doesn’t tolerate fools and does things her own way, it’s worth noting that she hasn’t starred in many horror or thriller films. Notably, her most recognized roles include Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light, Claire Bennett on Heroes, Juliette Barnes on Nashville, and the lead character in I Love You, Beth Cooper. Panettiere was an excellent fit for the main role in Sleepwalker. Her previous roles demonstrate her ability to portray a strong-willed character who battles for survival amidst emotional challenges. Regardless of the roles she takes on in the future, horror enthusiasts will forever associate her with Kirby and eagerly await her potential return to every Scream movie.

In addition to her role in “Sleepwalker,” Panettiere is also set to star in a remake of the film titled “A Breed Apart“. According to Deadline, this survival movie is being reimagined from the 2006 film “The Breed” directed by the late Wes Craven. Her latest role was that of “Jaq in the 2024 thriller Amber Alert“.

Currently, I haven’t got a definite date for the release of Sleepwalker yet. As a die-hard Scream fan, I can’t wait to catch Hayden Panettiere’s upcoming thriller, and fingers crossed, maybe Kirby might reappear in Scream 7!
