HBO's The Last Of Us Season 2 Teaser Trailer Is Now Out

As a die-hard fan of The Last of Us, who has spent countless hours traversing post-apocalyptic landscapes and forming emotional bonds with its characters, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming season 2! With Catherine O’Hara joining the cast, it feels like we’re in for a wild ride that will surely be as captivating as her performances in Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone, or Beetlejuice.

A fresh teaser trailer for The Last of Us season 2 has been released, exciting fans everywhere who have been eagerly waiting for this highly anticipated follow-up to the successful HBO adaptation based on the widely popular game. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has also unveiled three posters. Notably, the trailer suggests a leap forward in time for the show’s main characters.

In the upcoming second season of The Last of Us, which takes place five years from now and introduces fresh characters, Catherine O’Hara is set to make an appearance. Joining her is Kaitlyn Dever, portraying Abby. Although details about the storylines for season 2 are yet to be revealed, fans can’t wait to see the addition of O’Hara, who has won acclaim for her performances in series like Schitt’s Creek, films such as Home Alone, and Beetlejuice.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Last Of Us season 2 official description reads:

Five long years have passed since the tumultuous events of my first gaming journey, a time when peace seemed almost attainable. But now, my serene existence has been shattered as Joel and Ellie’s haunting past returns to ensnare us in a bitter struggle that threatens not only our relationship but also a world that has grown even more treacherous and unstable than the one we once fled.

Here are the fresh faces in the cast: Isaac (Jeffrey Wright), Owen (Spencer Lord), Manny (Danny Ramirez), Nora (Tati Gabrielle), Mel (Ariela Barer), Jesse (Young Mazino), and Dina (Isabela Merced).

As a dedicated gaming enthusiast, I’d have to say that while some might argue that “Long, Long Time” from The Last of Us was the pinnacle, I’m convinced that season 2 is shaping up to be equally, if not more, impressive.

In the meticulously designed preview, featuring Pearl Jam’s “Future Days,” we catch a fleeting instant of joy shared by Joel and Ellie amidst their challenging journey through an unfamiliar world filled with dread and fear. This sneak peek also hints at intense action sequences, uncertain moments, and chilling winter scenes.

It’s still unclear when exactly it will air, but Deadline suggests that “The Last of Us season 2” could premiere in 2025. Casey Bloys, the head of HBO, has revealed that filming for the second season is set to begin at the start of 2024. Previously, all nine episodes of “The Last of Us” season 1 were broadcast from January to March 2023. The summer 2023 WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike may cause a delay between both seasons compared to usual. In the interim, fans are curious about how “The Last of Us” season 2 will continue Joel’s storyline, as some significant events take place in the game. As we wait, we can only speculate how closely the adaptation will adhere to the familiar storyline, but the teaser trailer indicates that it’s bound to be thrilling.
