Head Of Assassin’s Creed Has Left Ubisoft After 20 Years

The lead producer of the Assassin’s Creed franchise has reportedly departed from Ubisoft following the creation of a new partnership with Tencent.

Marc-Alexis Côté, a vice president and executive producer for the franchise, has left the company. The information was shared with employees through an internal email.

According to a memo sent to employees and first covered by IGN, Vantage Studios’ leaders, Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot, stated that they offered Côté a leadership position, but he turned it down. They expressed disappointment with his decision, explaining that he had “different ideas about how Vantage Studios should be built and what it should become.”

According to a statement given to TopMob, Ubisoft announced that Marc-Alexis Côté has decided to leave the company following the restructuring announced in March 2025. Ubisoft expressed sadness at his departure but remains confident in the ability of its teams to continue building on the work he accomplished.

Alexandre Côté began his career at Ubisoft in 2005 as a software engineer. Over the past two decades, he advanced through various roles, including lead programmer, level designer, game director, and executive producer. He oversaw the development of popular titles like Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Starting in 2022, Côté has led the strategic direction of the Assassin’s Creed series.
