Heart Machine Lets Go More Staff Ahead Of Possessor(s) Release

Developer Heart Machine recently had another round of layoffs, impacting staff just weeks before the release of their new game. Several former employees have reported being let go as the studio prepares to launch Possessor(s) on November 11th, in addition to their existing title, Hyper Light Breaker.

Based on social media posts, the layoffs took place on October 28 and 29.

So, I just got the news – I’ve been laid off. Honestly, I just needed to share it somewhere, even if it feels like I’m yelling into the internet. I really loved my team at HM; they were amazing people to work with.

I heard from someone that they’re leaving the company once Possessor(s) is out the door. And it’s getting pretty real – Yiyi Zhang, who handles community and PR, even posted a video talking about the layoffs. It’s a tough situation, honestly.

I just heard some really upsetting news – Heart Machine had another round of layoffs, and it happened right away. It’s crazy to think that by the time their new game, Possessor(s), finally comes out on November 11th, almost nobody who actually made the game might still be working there. It’s just… that’s how things often go in the game development world, sadly.

These new layoffs follow Heart Machine’s recent announcement that it was reducing staff and stopping development on Hyper Light Breaker, which happened just two weeks ago.

TopMob has contacted Heart Machine to ask about the recent layoffs. We will update this article if we receive a response.
