Heihachi added to Tekken 8 via Character Year 1 Pass

As a seasoned Tekken veteran, who’s been through the epic battles of the Mishima clan since the early days, I must say, seeing Heihachi back in action is like revisiting an old friend who’s just gotten a facelift! The evolution of his fighting style, learned from the Tekken monks, promises to bring a whole new level of excitement to the ring.

Bandai Namco recently revealed that iconic character Heihachi Mishima, a significant figure in Tekken’s past, will be joining Tekken 8 through the Character Year 1 Pass.

Heihachi is the third character added, following Eddy and Lidia, which brings the total roster to a powerful 35. Bandai Namco shares that “The Iron Fist King, who appeared to have perished at the end of TEKKEN 7, has miraculously defied death and returned with an updated fighting style, honed during his time with the Tekken monks.

Alongside character Heihachi, a fresh stage called GENMAJI TEMPLE is now available for independent purchase. On top of that, version 1.08 of the game introduces new free content: a brand new Story Mode called “Unforgotten Echoes” has been added. This mode unfolds alongside the TEKKEN 8 main story and focuses on characters Eddy, Lidia, and Heihachi, offering additional insights into how Heihachi survived his destiny in TEKKEN 7. In this mode, players who don’t own these characters can still play as Eddy, Lidia, and Heihachi.

In addition, some exciting new additions have been introduced. For instance, users now have the long-awaited ability to customize the TEKKEN 8 main menu with any character they desire. Furthermore, there’s an option to engage in online practice sessions with friends in the TEKKEN Fight Lounge.

According to Chris White’s assessment, Tekken 8 appears to be a fresh fighter due to its emphasis on aggression and precision. The Heat Gauge is an excellent feature because it allows for increased damage output, but it’s carefully balanced so that players can’t easily exploit it. The storyline is expansive, uniting all fighters in a grand narrative that traverses every continent. The game offers a rich selection of modes and content, particularly for single-player experiences, which is fantastic. Visually, the game is stunning, and the seamless transition between cutscenes and combat always catches the eye. And let’s not forget, Tekken Ball is back, allowing players to engage in rough-and-tumble volleyball matches as a bear fighting a robot.

Tekken 8 is out now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
