As a long-time fan of the Tekken series, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Heihachi Mishima was announced as the third DLC character for Tekken 8 during EVO 2024. Heihachi has been a staple in the franchise since its inception and his absence in Tekken 7’s story left many of us feeling incomplete.

At EVO 2024 during the Tekken segment, it was revealed that Heihachi Mishima is set to be the third downloadable character for Tekken 8.

Heihachi made his debut as a boss character in the initial Tekken game and has consistently been a prominent figure in the franchise since then. Sadly, he met his demise at the conclusion of Tekken 7’s narrative. Nevertheless, fans are elated by the news that he will reappear in Tekken 8 before the end of this year.

An intriguing teaser trailer emerged, accompanying the announcement with a cool build-up. The clip concluded with a compact collection of Heihachi’s past appearances and ended by shockingly revealing his return to the game.

In an interview with IGN, Katsuhiro Harada expressed his reasons for bringing Heihachi Mishima back into Tekken. He mentioned that there was a strong demand from fans as well as a sense of longing among the development team to include this iconic character in the game once again.

Harada shared that in Tekken 7, great emphasis was given to the storyline connecting Heihachi and his son Kazuya. We aimed to depict their conclusive encounter, which led audiences to believe Heihachi had perished. However, following the release of Tekken 8, we recognized the strong fan interest in the narrative and our own longing for Heihachi’s presence. Consequently, a decision was made later on to bring him back.

I was thrilled to hear Harada confirm that Heihachi’s gameplay will remain powerful, just like in previous versions of Tekken. And get this – there’s a brand new, first-of-its-kind story expansion coming our way, absolutely free for all players!

At EVO 2024, the Tekken 8 competition ended with Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique claiming victory over Atif Ijaz with a score of 3 games to 2. This triumph earned Arslan Ash his fifth championship title at EVO events.
