Helldivers 2 Dev is ‘Working on the Concept’ For its Next Game

As a dedicated fan of Arrowhead Studios and Helldivers 2, I find myself eagerly awaiting the announcement of their next project. Having had the privilege to witness the incredible success of Helldivers 2, with its millions of copies sold and numerous awards won throughout 2024, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for what they have in store for us next.

With Johan Pilestedt, the creative director behind Helldivers 2, actively working on the high concept for their new game, I find myself drawn to social media platforms, eagerly reading through community speculation and engaging with other fans. It’s a thrilling experience to be part of this creative process, even from afar.

One idea that particularly piqued my interest was the possibility of Arrowhead remaking the retro twin-stick shooter “Smash TV.” As someone who grew up playing arcade games in the 90s, I can appreciate the atmosphere and brutal action that such a game would offer. If they could capture the essence of Smash TV while incorporating their signature style and innovative mechanics, it would undoubtedly be a masterpiece.

Intriguingly, Pilestedt hinted at the fact that a concept for a “Smash TV”-inspired game was pitched ‘a long time ago.’ I find myself wondering if this could potentially be the project he’s currently working on. Fingers crossed!

Another intriguing tidbit was Pilestedt’s mention of a first-person, on-rails game akin to Star Fox. As someone who has always been fascinated by space and intergalactic adventures, this idea is particularly appealing to me. I can only imagine the breathtaking visuals and immersive gameplay that such a game would offer.

In closing, I must say that I am beyond excited for whatever Arrowhead Studios has up their sleeve next. I have faith that they will continue to push boundaries and deliver groundbreaking games that captivate gamers worldwide. And who knows? Maybe we’ll even see the return of our beloved Helldivers in some capacity.

On a lighter note, I can’t help but wonder if they’ll incorporate an option for inter-species friendships between Helldivers and their adorable pets (the Helldogs) in their next game. After all, who doesn’t want to see a Helldog pilot a spaceship? Just imagine the chaos that could ensue! 😉

A tweet from Johan Pilestedt, the creative mind behind Helldivers 2, revealed that Arrowhead Studios is developing ideas for their next game. Approximately a year has passed since the launch of Helldivers 2, and it was met with widespread acclaim. Since then, the game has sold numerous units and garnered awards during this period.
