Helldivers 2 “Escalation of Freedom” update coming on August 6th

As a long-time fan of the Helldivers series, I’m beyond excited for Arrowhead Games’ upcoming Escalation of Freedom update. The announcement on the PlayStation Blog has me buzzing with anticipation! With the addition of Super Helldive difficulty level CR10, I can hardly wait to put my skills to the ultimate test and reap the rewards that come with it.

Helldivers 2 is set to receive its largest update yet, named “Escalation of Freedom,” from Arrowhead Games. This exciting expansion will be available starting August 6th.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, which is the official platform for announcements from Sony, Katherine Baskin, Arrowhead Game Studios’ Social Media and Community Manager, shared that the team has listened to player feedback and planned to add more diversity to the game. This means new missions, objectives, enemies, and planets for both experienced Helldivers and those just joining the battlefield. Get prepared for our most significant update to date!

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in intense combat simulations, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the news of the new update. The addition of “CR 10: Super Helldive” promises to take my gaming experience to new heights. With its reputation as the most challenging and relentless dive difficulty level yet, I’m eagerly anticipating the intensity that awaits me on the battlefield. And as someone who thrives on a good challenge, I can’t wait to reap the greater rewards that come with it. Bring it on, game developers! Let’s see what you’ve got in store for this Super Helldive veteran.

As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed some criticism regarding the mission variety in Helldivers 2. To enhance the experience and add more depth, Escalation of Freedom introduces fresh objectives and expanded enemy outposts for both bug and bot missions. Additionally, new adversaries join the fray, with the Impaler making a triumphant return from the first Helldivers game.

As an avid fan, I’d describe it this way: I came across a new gadget called a Spore Charger, which is now concealed by a fog shroud until it’s very close. The Alpha Commander is the final bug enemy to join the ranks, and he’s not just any ordinary Brood Commander – he’s supercharged, larger, meaner, and doesn’t think twice before summoning backup bugs. Lastly, the bots have acquired a Rocket Tank to wreak havoc on our heroic squad.

As an avid fan, I’m excited to share that the developers have introduced a more laid-back solution to tackle grief kicking in the game. Now, if a player gets kicked out of a session post-update, they will rejoin as the host in the next game with all the loot from the previous one. They can then collect and extract the items as usual. Meanwhile, the squad that initiated the kick will be notified of the action taken, but their loot remains unaffected.

Baskin explains: “These adjustments ensure that every Helldiver participant can claim all acquired treasures during a mission, preventing anyone from being left empty-handed. Our priority is enhancing the gaming experience and fostering collaborative and positive gameplay.”

The latest installment of Helldivers, named Helldivers 2, is currently available for purchase on both PC and PlayStation 5 platforms. On August 6th, an exciting new update titled “Escalation of Freedom” will be released.
