A new chart for Pokemon GO details how often players can find Shiny Pokemon in the mobile game, categorizing each type of Shiny encounter. The popular game has given fans a lot to be excited about lately, especially with the start of the new season, “Tales of Transformation.” Last month, Pokemon GO held a live City Safari event in various locations, and September brought several new Pokemon and forms, including Dynamax Duraludon and Mega Camerupt. Now, this recent chart is revealing just how rare Pokemon GO‘s most difficult-to-find creatures are.
Similar to the core Pokemon games, Shiny Pokemon are among the most difficult variants to obtain in Pokemon GO. These Shiny Pokemon usually appear very rarely, and finding one often requires dedication or a bit of luck. Pokemon GO does offer some ways to make it easier to catch them, especially during events like Raid Day and Community Day, which boost their appearance rates. Now, Pokemon GO players are starting to understand just how challenging it is to find Shiny Pokemon.
A chart created by the Pokemon GO fansite Pokedex 100 and posted on the Pokemon GO subreddit details how often players find Shiny Pokemon. Events like Raid Days, Hatch Days, and Field Research Days have the best chances, with roughly 1 in every 10 Pokemon being Shiny. Raid-Exclusive Legendary and Mythical Pokemon also appear fairly often as Shiny – about 1 in 20. Community Days offer a 1-in-24 chance to find a Shiny. The chart also shows that Mega Pokemon are more likely to be Shiny than regular Pokemon, with 1 in 128 Mega Pokemon being a Shiny version.

Pokemon GO regularly adds new Shiny Pokemon, and often highlights them during special events. The Pokemon GO “Psychic Spectacular 2025” event in September introduced Indeedee – a Pokemon from the eighth generation – and also released its Shiny version. The game’s frequent Community Day events also let players obtain Shiny forms of previously released Pokemon, and Solosis has already been announced as the featured Pokemon for October 2025.

As a Pokemon GO player, I’m super excited for October! It looks like there’s a ton coming, especially with the new release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. They’re even boosting the spawns of the Starter Pokemon from Legends: Z-A in Pokemon GO, which is awesome. Plus, there’s a Festival of Lights event happening in India with Pokemon like Tadbulb, Chinchou, and Litwick – sounds really cool! Honestly, Pokemon GO is going to keep me busy all month with all these exciting events.
