Here’s How Many World of Warcraft Housing Items Will Cost Real Money in Midnight

Currently, it looks like World of Warcraft: Midnight will release with 19 housing decorations available for purchase in the cash shop. While the new housing system in World of Warcraft will include over 2,200 decorations total, less than 1% of them will be available for purchase with real money.

Recently, World of Warcraft announced Hearthsteel, a new digital currency you can buy with real money. It will only be used to purchase decorations for player housing, which players are worried will turn an otherwise fun feature into one focused on microtransactions.

Fortunately, early access to the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha is easing some concerns about the game’s customization options. Currently, only 19 decorative items for player housing are planned to be sold in the cash shop, and 15 of those are already visible in the alpha version. These items are all new designs, with a theme of springtime, including cherry blossoms and garden gnomes, plus adorable lion and wolf plushies representing the Alliance and Horde factions.

The latest test versions of the World of Warcraft Housing system include 2,208 different decorations. Currently, less than 1% of these housing items are available for purchase with real money. Blizzard has stated in a blog post about Hearthsteel that most decorations will be obtainable through gameplay, and iconic items tied to World of Warcraft’s history, characters, and events won’t be sold for cash. The cash shop will focus on entirely new items that aren’t part of the game’s existing lore.

Hearthsteel items can be bought with real money through a Battle.net balance, and while you can technically buy them with gold using WoW Tokens, it’s quite expensive.

While more decorations might become available for the cash shop in World of Warcraft before Midnight comes out, the initial amount will likely be similar to what’s already been announced. The developers plan to add even more housing items to the game and shop later, so players will need to see how the numbers change as new content is added.

Good news for World of Warcraft players! You won’t have to wait much longer to try out the new Housing feature. Those who’ve already bought the Midnight expansion can get early access starting December 2nd. Everyone else will be able to enjoy it when the full expansion launches around March 10th, and that will also include items available in the in-game shop.
