2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year so far! We’ve already invested a significant amount of time enjoying Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and we can’t wait for the upcoming titles like Doom: The Dark Ages. And before you know it, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be arriving!
For quite some time now, there’s been one particular video game that has lingered on our mental radar since its unveiling in 2019. Apart from occasional cryptic updates and persistent optimism, it hasn’t had many public appearances. However, that changes today.
In the latest Nintendo Switch broadcast, a brief clip of Hollow Knight: Silksong was unveiled – an upcoming sequel to the hit indie Metroidvania game from 2017, Hollow Knight. Although it wasn’t a lengthy preview, we did receive confirmation that the game will be launched this year.
Now, we know when we’ll be able to play the game, provided we’re lucky, of course.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Be Playable for the First Time at an Australian Museum This September
Based on information from IGN, the game Hollow Knight: Silksong will make its debut at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) on September 18th. This event is part of a larger exhibition titled “Game Worlds,” which showcases games that delve deeper into artistic vision and video game design. Since Team Cherry, the developers of Hollow Knight, are based in Australia, it’s fitting that this special presentation takes place at an Australian museum, as it’s their local area.
Ever since Hollow Knight: Silksong was first unveiled in 2019, it has been one of the world’s most eagerly awaited indie games. Now, we are delighted to highlight this game, created right here in South Australia, as a key attraction at Game Worlds in September. We are deeply appreciative of Team Cherry for allowing us to showcase their creation, and can hardly wait to present it to you!” – Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, ACMI co-curators.
Here’s your option: In other words, if you visit the National Museum of Screen Culture in Australia this month, you’ll get a chance to play Hollow Knight: Silksong starting September. For everyone else, let’s hope the wait won’t be too prolonged.
