Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era Announced By Ubisoft

As a seasoned veteran of turn-based strategy games and a diehard fan of the Heroes of Might & Magic franchise, I can barely contain my excitement for Ubisoft’s upcoming release, Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era! It’s been almost a decade since we last ventured into this magical world, and the return to its intricate gameplay mechanics is music to my ears.

For the first time in almost a decade, one of the long-standing series known for its strategic, turn-based gameplay is set to launch a new installment. Ubisoft has unveiled plans for the debut of Heroes of Might & Magic: Ancient Times.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my anticipated adventure, the Heroes of Might & Magic series continuation, will be available in early access on Steam for PC in Q2 2025. This isn’t just another chapter, but rather a journey back in time, unfolding events before the first game. So, while it shares the same title as Heroes of Might & Magic 8, this game is more accurately a prequel, promising an exciting new narrative to explore!

About Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era

Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, currently under development by Ubisoft’s collaborative studio Unfrozen, revives the classic turn-based gameplay reminiscent of earlier installments in the series.

In the past, we’ll be unveiling several innovations in the gameplay: Players will gain increased autonomy when advancing their heroes and factions, such as faction-specific abilities, enhanced methods for acquiring skills and magical spells, and artifacts that provide benefits when multiple items from a set are worn. This was confirmed by Ubisoft.

In the upcoming game, you’ll encounter six different groups: Temple, Necropolis, Forest, Underground, Hive, and an additional, as-yet-unrevealed sixth group, which we’ll unveil at a future time.

Regarding gameplay options, we’re introducing a fresh campaign, multiple individual maps, a randomly generated map feature, and also a tool for creating your own unique maps.

About Heroes of Might & Magic

Originally created by New World Computing, the strategy game series Heroes of Might & Magic started off as a spin-off from the initial Might and Magic RPG series. It eventually branched out into its own distinct franchise. The first Heroes of Might & Magic game was released in 1995. After New World Computing closed down in 2003, Ubisoft took over the series. Since then, there have been three main games in the Might & Magic series under Ubisoft’s management: Heroes of Might & Magic 5, Might & Magic Heroes 6, and Might & Magic Heroes 7.

More details on the new game will be announced at a later date as early access gets close.
