Players adore Oblivion Remastered due to its vast open world, Cyrodiil, which offers a wealth of unexplored territories. Beyond the main cities, players can stumble upon hidden gems such as caves, campsites, dungeons, shrines, estates, and farms, most of which won’t appear on the map until they are discovered by the player.
These lesser-known locations, as defined by gaming parlance, are often called “settlements.” In these spots, players can recharge, stock up on supplies, and interact with others. Additionally, quests, loot, equipment, and invaluable experience points may be discovered here.
1. The Odiil Farm
A Simple Quest And Generous Crops

- Location: Southeast of Chorrol, also found through “The Killing Field” quest
You might accidentally discover the Odiil Farm while traveling east on the main road from Chorrol through the wilderness, but you can also find a related quest in the nearby town. The tavern keeper Valus Odiil at The Grey Mare, the most affordable inn in town, may speak about his sons who have ventured out to confront some unusual creatures that have overrun the farm.
He directs the main character to visit his offspring at their rural home, where they all make their way. The farm is situated not far from two portals known as Oblivion gates, which could account for the appearances of the imps. After expelling the beasts, the place regains its vitality. In addition to abundant supplies and several bottles of brandy, there’s also a Nirnroot plant sprouting in a container within the residence.
2. Aleswell
A Haunted Village

- Location: North of the Imperial City, in the shadow of Fort Caractacus
In the eerie, enigmatic town of Aleswell, numerous fascinating mysteries lie dormant. One such secret is that its inhabitants vanished completely and inexplicably. As time goes on, the truth behind this phantom town comes to light, and adventurers who dare to explore it can aid in making the locals reappear. This mission can be initiated by conversing with one of Aleswell’s spectral residents or by seeking out Malene at the Roxey Inn nearby.
Clues can be uncovered at a nearby fort, inhabited by a potent sorcerer. This entire community includes a garden and three structures; two serve as living quarters while the third is the Aleswell Inn. Upon completion of the quest, one of these rooms will function both as a living space and storage area.
3. Blankenmarch
A Quaint Oasis East Of Leyawiin

- Location: Follow the Yellow Road northeast of Leyawiin
As they journey towards the Ayelid ruins or the sprawling subterranean caves of Veylond, hidden just beneath the modest village of Blankenmarch, many adventurers often find themselves passing through this quiet settlement. To the northeast lies Fort Doublecross. The small community consists of three simple dwellings, each owned privately, and a flourishing garden filled with various wild herbs, nestled nearby.
In these ruins, you’ll find malevolent beings that were once inhabitants of Ayelid, now transformed into trolls with an increased strength compared to typical creatures encountered in the wild, such as scamps or vermin. This serves as a caution for those exploring these ruins, as the primary adversaries are indeed the former residents of Ayelid.
4. Lord Drad’s Estate
A Comfortable Mountainside Retreat

- Location: Hidden at the end of a long valley northeast of Anvil
The main house isn’t intended for player housing, and Lord Drad may not appreciate peasants staying there, even if they’re seen as heroes. However, you’ll find free sleeping arrangements in the guesthouse when needed, and there are plenty of opportunities to gather food from the gardens and farms for snacks or Alchemy ingredients.
Lord Drad, a distinguished Dunmer aristocrat, oversees more than just his manor; he also controls an eastern mine, part of his extensive holdings. Recently, there’s been unrest among the mine’s workforce, and Lord Drad is seeking help. If your character is looking for additional tasks, this could be an opportunity for them to assist.
5. Gottlesfont Priory
A Scenic Chapel Ruin And A Free Bedroll

- Location: Halfway between Chorrol and Skingrad
A direct route to Gottlefont Priory may not be available, yet it’s effortlessly discoverable nestled amidst lightly wooded slopes close to the remnants of Ayelid in Narfinsel and Elengylnn. The site encompasses merely two structures: a quaint thatched-roof cottage and an ornate Gothic chapel. However, the residents, Sister Angrond and Sister Phebe Jeanard, make it feel like a welcoming and somewhat tidy abode. They also deal in modest goods and extend hospitality by providing food, lodging, if desired.
A free bed is always welcome, especially in this great headquarters that travelers can utilize when investigating the nearby Aleyid ruins or collecting Alchemy ingredients. There’s an abundance of Lady’s Mantle here, which rejuvenates health and offers useful skills such as Nighteye and Feather.
6. Weatherleah
Reunite A Family And Rebuild Their Home

- Location: Directly south of Chorrol
After completing the quest “Separated At Birth” in Chorrol, the following quest along the chain is “Legacy Lost.” This quest guides the player towards Weatherleah, a location that may be discovered during exploration or indicated by friendly residents of Chorrol. Many inhabitants recall the Jemane estate before it was infested with trolls and are able to mark its location on the map.
Upon completing the second mission aimed at reclaiming the farm, the siblings return and embark on its reconstruction and revitalization. The debris is cleared away, the fields are tilled and replanted, allowing the player to collect and utilize the produce as desired. In the concluding chapter, titled “The Sins of the Father,” the objective revolves around retrieving a misappropriated artifact hidden within the Redguard Valley Cave.
7. Temple Of The Ancestor Moths
A Mysterious And Dark Place

- Location: North of Cheydinhal
The tales of Ancestor Moths are intertwined with the Elder Scrolls, and understanding them comes at a steep cost for mortals. This mysterious location can be accessed at any moment, but the challenge lies in entering, as everything is secured and none of the doors can be picked open.
To enter the chapel, crypt, and monks’ quarters (all connected structures), you must first accomplish a mission titled “Turning a Blind Eye” from the Thieves’ Guild in Cheydinhal. Prior to accepting this quest, your character needs to sell or trade stolen items valued over 600 gold. This task initiates a chain of events that ultimately leads you into the catacombs beneath the crypt, where the objective is to retrieve Savilla’s Stone and bring it back.
