Hideo Kojima Doesn’t Know If OD ‘Will Work Out’

I was reading an interview with Hideo Kojima about his new game, OD, and he admitted it’s still very much a work in progress! He even said he’s not entirely sure what the final product will be or if it will even come together as he envisions. It’s exciting and a little nerve-wracking to hear him be so honest about it, but that’s classic Kojima, right?

Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions are already developing their next game for Xbox Game Studios, called OD. We got a first look at it earlier this year with the ‘Knock’ trailer, and Kojima has mentioned wanting to use scans of ‘real ghosts’ in the game. He’s now sharing some of the difficulties the team is encountering during development.

Hideo Kojima Can’t Say What OD Exactly Is, But There Are Hints in the Trailer

In a recent interview with Ananweb (reported by Automaton), Hideo Kojima discussed the difficulties he’s encountering while working on OD. He admitted he isn’t ready to reveal details and isn’t even sure if his ideas will succeed. Kojima also mentioned that his previous stealth and delivery games were innovative, but still relied on familiar game mechanics, which helped with development.

With Death Stranding 2, Kojima and his team are completely rethinking how the game will be played, and it’s been a difficult process. However, the new trailer contains lots of clues, and dedicated fans may be able to piece things together if they look closely.

TopMob’s latest report shows that the team at Eidos Montreal began work on the game OD before being reassigned to a project in Japan. Interestingly, the game’s director also recently joined the team working on Zootopia 2, just days before its release. It’s even surprising that Hideo Kojima himself isn’t confident about the success of his new game, OD.
