Hideo Kojima’s OD and Physint Suffer Delays To Due SAG-AFTRA Strike

As a long-time fan and follower of Hideo Kojima’s groundbreaking work, I find myself both concerned and intrigued by the recent developments regarding his upcoming games. Delays are an inevitable part of the creative process, but as someone who has witnessed the meticulous attention to detail that Kojima brings to each project, I am confident that these setbacks will only serve to make these games even more exceptional.

The current SAG-AFTRA strike is undeniably impacting many in our industry, and it’s heartening to see a visionary like Kojima standing with the actors who contribute so much to his unique storytelling. I can’t help but imagine the richness of OD and Physint, games that promise to push the boundaries of immersion and interaction.

In the grand scheme of things, a few months’ delay is a small price to pay for ensuring fair treatment for all involved in the creation process. And while I wait with bated breath for these new titles, I take solace in the fact that Kojima, like a phoenix, always rises from the ashes of adversity to deliver something truly extraordinary.

As for a joke, let’s just say I can’t help but wonder what the AI actors are thinking during this strike… “If only we could unionize!

Two of Hideo Kojima’s forthcoming projects are experiencing setbacks in their development due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, as stated by Kojima on social media. Specifically, the progress of OD and Physint has been affected.

In a recent update shared by Kojima, he provided insights into the progress of his key ventures: Death Stranding 2, OD, and Physint. Concerning Death Stranding 2, he mentioned that they commenced playing and developing the game this summer, following periods dedicated to music production, Japanese voice-overs, and other aspects. However, there have been some setbacks with the other two projects.

Initially, using OD, Kojima indicates that game development progressed simultaneously with actor and setting scans. However, midway through the year, both scanning and filming were halted temporarily due to a strike. Similarly, for Physint, the casting process was put on hold because of the same industrial action.

As a long-time gamer and follower of the gaming industry, I have been eagerly waiting for updates on the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike that began last year. Having spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, brought to life by the talented voices of video game actors, it’s heartening to see them fighting for fair compensation and protections. However, as someone who has also worked in negotiations, I can empathize with both sides – the need for creators to maintain profitability while ensuring that performers are treated fairly.

I am hopeful that a resolution will be reached soon, so we can all enjoy new games featuring high-quality performances from our favorite voice actors. In the meantime, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and stay informed on any updates regarding the talks between SAG-AFTRA and the game developers.
