After discovering the strange world of Prismeria and visiting the town in High on Life 2, you’ll find a Gatlian named Bowie facing execution for theft. You must first unlock the blocked gate to enter, and then you’ll be asked to persuade the crowd to call off the execution.
As this is High on Life 2, there’s more than one way to advance the main story, save Bowie, and defeat your target, Finance Wiz James Stevenson. To see all your options and what happens with each one, check out this complete guide.
High on Life 2: How to Stop the Execution
Okay, so I was stressing about how to handle this whole scene, especially with that timer popping up! But honestly, it doesn’t really matter how you do it. There’s no special reward or penalty, and no matter what happens, you end up getting Bowie as your next weapon and that cool Blue Wizard, James Stevenson, shows up. It’s a relief to know I can just play it how I want!
How to Convince the Crowd to Stop the Execution in High on Life 2
Okay, so the game wants me to try and stop the execution by convincing key people in the crowd. Basically, I need to find three important folks – luckily, my Info Scanner can help with that – and talk them into telling their section of the crowd to stop the killing. If I want to go this route, here’s how I need to respond to each of them…
- When speaking to the male by the fountain, tell him that you’re there to stop the execution because they’re a Gatlian like you.
- When speaking to the person standing on a platform, tell them how much you love blood and death, and that you really meant what you said.
- For the remaining person, ask them whether a court system might be a fairer method of exacting justice.
Okay, so if I follow these little story bits, the game actually pauses, and then Bowie shows up to hang out with me! Plus, this cool Blue Wizard guy pops onto the scene too.
High on Life 2: The Other Ways You Can Stop the Execution
If you don’t want to talk to people, you do have other options. They are:
- You can let the countdown timer elapse, with the hanging not working because Bowie has no neck.
- You can pull the lever behind the executioner to initiate the hanging yourself, with the same result. If you don’t shoot the executioner first, you get some additional dialogue from the executioner complaining that you took his job. Bowie is pretty generous and says, “No hard feelings.”
- You can cut Bowie down with Knifey before pulling the lever. At this point, you can try to quickly claim Bowie, or the executioner boots you backwards and magically reattaches Bowie to the gallows, and you can try the other options.
Whether you save Bowie, let him be executed, or even try to take matters into your own hands, the outcome remains consistent: you’ll gain a Gatlian firearm, and the Blue Wizard will appear, allowing you to progress with the story.
