Highguard Receives “Mostly Negative” Reviews On Steam After Launch

Highguard is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, initial reactions from players on Steam have been largely negative, with most reviews appearing within the first hour of release indicating dissatisfaction.

Players are experiencing several problems, including performance issues and being unexpectedly disconnected from the game.

“Barely had 60 fps on a 5070 Ti & 14700K,” said one user.

Another added that they “logged in immediately and got kicked out of the game.”

Although some worries are understandable, many people seem to be assuming this will be like the game “Concord 2,” simply because others believe it will. It’s worth noting that Concord only ever had a peak of 697 players on Steam, while Highguard has already reached almost 100,000 players at the same time.

Although initial reactions were largely negative, many players are actually enjoying the game, as shown by the positive reviews.

Early feedback on the game highlights how unique the rules are. One player noted it’s unlike games like Temu Concord or Overwatch, explaining that the distinct phases – building up, capturing flags, and sieging – create a natural flow to each match. Once players adapt, they find it much more enjoyable than simply focusing on aiming and shooting.

Another user said that nothing in the game felt “messy” despite the mixing of “a lot of gameplays”.
