Highly-Anticipated Xbox Game Pass Game Delayed to 2025

Highlights

  • Replaced, the anticipated Xbox Game Pass title, is delayed until 2025.
  • Fans excited for the stylish 2D action platformer will have to wait longer than expected.
  • Despite the delay, Xbox Game Pass still offers a strong lineup for the rest of 2024.

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen my fair share of delays, I must admit that I feel a twinge of disappointment upon hearing about the latest delay for the long-awaited title, Replaced, on Xbox Game Pass. I’ve been eagerly anticipating this stylish 2D action platformer since its debut at E3 in 2021 and have been patiently waiting through the various setbacks that Sad Cat Studios has faced due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

The highly anticipated game “Replaced” on Xbox Game Pass, originally scheduled for release, has been postponed again, now set for 2025. This pioneering title is the first from Ukrainian developers at Sad Cat Studios, who unveiled it at Microsoft’s E3 presentation in 2021 as a day one addition to Xbox Game Pass. However, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, the game encountered multiple delays.

Initially announced, the game titled “Replaced” caught gamers off guard with its retro pixel art aesthetic and cyberpunk noir atmosphere. Since then, this 2D action platformer has consistently been high on the wish lists of Game Pass subscribers. However, impatient fans have had to accept several postponements as developers Sad Cat Studios navigate ongoing challenges. Nevertheless, it appears that “Replaced” is nearing completion, having been playable at Summer Game Fest in June.

Fans eagerly awaiting the chance to play “Replaced” in late 2024 will be disappointed by Sad Cat Studio’s recent Twitter update. Regrettably, the studio has announced that “Replaced” won’t launch until 2025, explaining that they require additional time to maintain the game’s quality. Sad Cat encouraged fans to join their Discord server and promised that “Replaced” would be playable at Gamescom this month. Furthermore, for those unable to attend, Sad Cat hinted at an intriguing surprise coming later this week.

Replaced Has Been Delayed To 2025

The fact that Replaced has postponed its release until 2025 leaves gamers wondering when exactly they might get their hands on it. In contrast to several big AAA games from Xbox’s first-party studio, slated for Game Pass in 2025 like Avowed, Fable, South of Midnight, and Doom: The Dark Ages, Replaced, being a smaller indie title, may find it easier to secure a suitable release date within the 2025 calendar. Meanwhile, Sad Cat Studio has hinted at an announcement coming this week, which could be just a new trailer or potentially a playable demo for Replaced. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Though we’ll surely feel its absence this year, Xbox’s Fall 2024 Game Pass catalog remains robust. Highlights include the Ukrainian-made game STALKER 2, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and many more. Game Pass subscribers can look forward to these titles for the rest of the year. Gamers will get a glimpse of Replaced later this month at Gamescom, so stay tuned to Sad Cat studios for their upcoming special reveal later in the week.
