Hitman 4 Unofficially Confirmed By IO Interactive CEO

IO Interactive has been hard at work on both growing the Hitman universe with ‘World of Assassination’ and creating their new James Bond game, ‘007: First Light’. Recent comments from the company’s CEO suggest we might have a glimpse of what they’re planning next.

In 2023, Hitman 3 transformed into the ‘World of Assassination,’ becoming an even more expansive game with the addition of celebrity appearances in new missions. While IO Interactive was also developing the 007 game, ‘First Light,’ rest assured that they haven’t stopped supporting Hitman with major updates and content.

“Of Course, There’s Going To Be A Next Hitman”

Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, recently discussed the Hitman series, their current project 007: First Light, and future plans in an interview with Variety.

The First Light launch is still planned for March 2026. According to Abrak, this is likely the only project they’ll be developing that isn’t owned by their company.

The conversation moved on to Hitman, the franchise’s history, and what’s next:

We definitely plan to continue the ‘Hitman’ series. You’ll hear more about co-op mode for ‘Hitman’ later this year or next year. We think co-op will be a great addition to the game, adding new and exciting gameplay possibilities to ‘World of Assassination.’ After that, we’ll start discussing the next full ‘Hitman’ game – rest assured, it’s happening.

Although Abrak hasn’t directly confirmed a fourth Hitman game, this statement is the closest thing to an official announcement we’re likely to get.

It’s currently unknown whether the existing ‘World of Assassination’ content will continue into the next Hitman game, or if it will be a completely separate title. Hitman players have something to anticipate, though: Eminem is scheduled to appear in the ‘World of Assassination’ in 2025.
