Hitman World of Assassination VR now coming in March 2025

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit, the delay in the release of Hitman World of Assassination VR for PSVR2 has left me somewhat disheartened. However, upon closer examination of the features and enhancements IO Interactive plans to introduce, my excitement has been rekindled. The active reloading, positional interactions, and fully usable sniper’s scope sound like game-changers, making this iteration a potential masterpiece in immersive gaming.

Whoa there, fellow gaming enthusiasts! I’ve got some exciting news to share – the immersive world of Hitman: World of Assassination VR, by IO Interactive, is no longer coming our way this December. Instead, we’ll be diving into the virtual reality mayhem in March 2025, when PSVR2 officially drops! Let’s mark our calendars and gear up for an even more thrilling experience next year.

According to Jonathan Lacaille (Global Marketing Director at IO Interactive), the release date for Hitman World of Assassination on PlayStation VR2, originally planned for December 2024, has now been changed to March 27, 2025.

Lacaille states: “Making the choice to shift the release date was not taken lightly; we were eager to bring Hitman to PS VR2 and saw a lot of anticipation upon its announcement. However, our primary goal is to offer an exceptional experience that matches the high standards our players are accustomed to. This extra time will enable our team to perfect the game, ensuring every detail is polished, immersive, and smooth. Additionally, it provides us with the opportunity to incorporate some additional features we were eager to include specifically for the PS VR2 version, such as active reloading.

Discussing firearms, active reloading lets you manually eject spent ammunition, grab a fresh magazine, and reinsert it into your weapon, thereby providing you with complete control over your equipment. Depending on circumstances, you can also holster your weapons on your body for easy concealment or quick access, enhancing the game’s realism. Lastly, the sniper rifle’s scope is now fully functional, offering you a chance to demonstrate your sharp-shooting abilities.

In the PS VR2 version of Hitman World of Assassination, positional interactions have been introduced, significantly altering how gamers connect with the game environment. Instead of just pressing a button to activate events, players are now expected to replicate actions, like switching a TV on or off by touching the virtual screen, hacking surveillance footage by tapping on a keyboard, or poisoning a drink by holding and releasing a vial near it. This function also applies to opening doors, leading to more seamless and realistic interactions. Additionally, quest items are now tangible and can be examined in your hand, enabling players to employ them directly within set pieces – such as swiping a keycard or turning a lock on a door.

Regardless of the delay, it sounds very impressive.

Hitman World of Assassination is coming to PlayStation VR2 on March 27, 2025.
