Hogwarts Legacy 2: Who Will These Famed Characters Be?

Following the tremendous success of the first game, a second installment of Hogwarts Legacy was almost inevitable, but with the official announcement of the second game, enthusiasts can now begin speculating about possible characters, locations, and creatures that might appear in the eagerly awaited sequel to one of 2023’s most anticipated titles. At present, specific details about the game are scarce, providing ample opportunity for speculation and generating excitement. The sequel offers a wealth of unexplored Wizarding World lore to delve into, as well as numerous beloved characters, locations, and creatures that were absent in the original.

In Hogwarts Legacy 2, since the game events occur approximately a century before the main series, it significantly narrows down the characters that could potentially make guest appearances. However, there’s still a rich array of well-known figures that fans can look forward to seeing in the sequel from Avalanche Studios.

Coolest Possible Cameos for Hogwarts Legacy 2

More Members of Sirius Black’s Family Tree

As an ardent enthusiast of Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll recall Professor Phineas Nigellus Black – the strict, snobbish, and largely disliked educator who outlawed quidditch for that particular school year. However, even those casually acquainted with the series would have recognized his surname. Phineas belonged to the illustrious Black family, a pureblood lineage renowned in magical circles throughout history. The Blacks were a significant presence in the magical community until it seemed they vanished during the series’ events. Yet, according to the game’s timeline, there are still many of them thriving.

In “Order of the Phoenix,” Harry observes a detailed and vast tapestry displaying all the ancestors, both living and deceased, of Sirius Black. Since Phineas wasn’t the only Black character during the time depicted in “Hogwarts Legacy,” there’s potential to bring more family members into the storyline. According to many reports, including Sirius’ own, the Black family was not known for being friendly patrons; however, perhaps “Hogwarts Legacy 2” could present some friendlier Black family members compared to the previous headmaster.

Merope Gaunt

Given the possible duration between game releases, it’s plausible that Merope Gaunt could show up in future installments of the Hogwarts Legacy series. Born in 1907, she is best known in the storyline as the mother of Tom Marvolo Riddle Jr., who eventually transforms into Lord Voldemort.

In the game “Hogwarts Legacy”, Ominous Gaunt, who is related to Merope, makes an appearance, but the specific nature of their relationship isn’t clearly defined. The tightly knit pureblood families in the Wizarding World are so fixated on a distorted notion of purity that over time, their family lines become convoluted and tangled, much like a wreath. This obsession, along with the mistreatment she endured at the hands of her father Marvolo, is believed to have contributed significantly to Merope’s health problems during her youth. Whether or not Merope actually attended Hogwarts as a teenager is up for debate, but it’s intriguing to imagine her as an NPC character, as her infatuation with Tom Riddle Sr. was the catalyst that set the series’ events in motion.

Dobby

In the magical world depicted in the series, there isn’t a defined age limit for house elves. It’s well-known that specific elves serve a single family for extended periods. Since Dobby passed away in March 1998, it’s not implausible, and perhaps even probable, that he would still be present during the events of Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Including a brief appearance from a younger version of Dobby in the series could delight both dedicated fans and casual viewers alike, offering fascinating glimpses into his earliest days. This scene might reveal how he ended up under the Malfoy family’s ownership. Alternatively, the creators could surprise us by portraying the Malfoys from the past as kind and caring towards Dobby, treating him more like a cherished family member rather than the mistreated servant that Lucius and Narcissa treated him as in the original storyline.

Albus Dumbledore

Among all characters on this list, a young Dumbledore is indispensable for any potential sequel of Hogwarts Legacy. Given that the original game is set in 1890, it’s important to note that canonically, Albus Dumbledore started his first year at Hogwarts in 1892, only two years following the events of the initial game. By the time your character in Hogwarts Legacy has reached their seventh year, Albus would already have been sorted into Gryffindor.

It’s clear that this narrative offers an immense opportunity for storytelling. Throughout the series, Dumbledore is depicted as a near-mythical figure – a benevolent, wise elder who always seems to know everything. However, it isn’t until the last book (and subsequently the Fantastic Beasts films) that we begin to uncover the human side of “Dumbledore the legend.” We delve into Albus’ complex family background, his tumultuous connection with Grindelwald, and his occasionally morally ambiguous choices concerning Harry’s protection.

What makes Dumbledore so endearing and relatable is that his character development mirrors the way people often perceive their own parents. At first, they seem almost mythical figures, but as time passes and life experiences are gained, it becomes apparent that they have their own stories, struggles, and flaws. Exploring a young Albus Dumbledore would continue this ongoing theme in the series, challenging fans’ preconceived notions about Dumbledore by showing them who he was before he became a legendary figure carrying the weight of the wizarding world. Incorporating him into Hogwarts Legacy 2 as a cameo could be Avalanche’s most significant and impactful contribution to the series yet, providing gamers with a glimpse into Dumbledore’s past before he became the legend we know today.
