Hogwarts Legacy: Complete Guide | Story Walkthrough, Collectibles & Side Quests

After a long development period and some debate, Hogwarts Legacy is now available. While some players are choosing not to buy the game because of comments made by the author who inspired it, many others are thrilled to play, and with good reason. Reviews have been excellent, with critics averaging around 85% positive ratings for Hogwarts Legacy.

Nearly everyone agrees that Hogwarts Legacy is the best Harry Potter game created so far, and the most exciting addition to the franchise in over ten years, since the final Harry Potter movie. It’s the ideal game for anyone who dreamed of attending wizarding school, and Game Rant’s Hogwarts Legacy walkthrough will guide players on their journey to becoming a powerful witch or wizard.

    Getting Started in Hogwarts Legacy

Since Hogwarts Legacy is designed for a wide range of players, it features a lot of tutorials, especially at the beginning. This means the game carefully explains its main features in a clear and simple way, though some things might still be a little confusing.

    Spells & Talents

As a witch or wizard in Hogwarts Legacy, spells are super important – I ended up learning around 34 of them! Most of them you unlock just by playing the main story and doing Assignments. But some of the really powerful ones, like the Unforgivable Curses, need you to complete side quests and build relationships with other characters to learn.

Players, especially those tackling tougher difficulties, will need to learn when and how to use each spell. Others might simply want to know when they can access their preferred spells or which talents will enhance them most effectively. This guide section is designed to provide that information.

    Items & Potions

Potions are a key part of Hogwarts Legacy. You’ll need to brew and use them to complete assignments throughout the game. They’re also very helpful in battles, especially against tough enemies and when playing on the highest difficulty level.

Making potions in Hogwarts Legacy requires collecting ingredients, and some of those can be really difficult to find. This guide will show you where to locate those rare ingredients and other important items. It also includes a complete list of all the potions in the game and detailed instructions on how to brew them.

    Gear Guides & Collectibles

Many players enjoy customizing their character’s look in Hogwarts Legacy, but gear does more than just change how they appear. Certain gear pieces can actually improve your character’s stats, which is really helpful during tough battles later in the game.

Players can find equipment, or ‘gear,’ by shopping in stores or discovering hidden chests throughout Hogwarts. Beyond gear, the castle is filled with collectibles, primarily pages from the Field Guide – there are 150 in total! This guide will focus on helping you find both useful gear and every page of the Field Guide.

    Location Guides

Since the game takes place in the world of Harry Potter, many players will likely want to find famous places from the books and movies. This might involve looking for the Gryffindor common room, where Ron and Harry first became friends, or visiting Hagrid’s future home, the gamekeeper’s hut.

The game features many completely new areas to explore, and they’re full of secrets you won’t want to miss. This guide will highlight these interesting places, including important locations to visit and puzzles hidden throughout the world.

    Beasts & Enemies

Though magical creatures are central to the world of Harry Potter, players won’t be able to fully engage with Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy until halfway through the game. Once they can, they’ll be able to rescue Beasts, house them in the Room of Requirement, and even breed them to gather ingredients for potions.

Finding all the magical creatures, or Beasts, in Hogwarts Legacy can be tricky, and not all of them can be befriended. Many of the game’s most challenging enemies are actually magical beasts, like Dugbogs and Trolls. This guide will cover both the Beasts you can rescue and the hostile ones, along with some of the other enemy types you’ll encounter.
