A developer working on Hollow Knight: Silksong has indicated the game will continue to receive updates after launch. While updates so far have focused on fixing bugs and making gameplay adjustments, composer Christopher Larkin suggests Team Cherry may have plans for more significant content additions in the future.
When Hollow Knight: Silksong launched on September 4th, it was immediately popular with fans who had anticipated the sequel since 2017. So many players tried to download it at once that it caused crashes on Steam, the Xbox Store, and the Nintendo eShop. The game has been very well-received, earning a 91% positive rating on Steam and a perfect 100% player score on OpenCritic.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Post-Launch Plans Get Encouraging Update
It’s been over two months since its release, but composer Larkin has confirmed he’s still collaborating with Team Cherry, the creators of the popular game. In a recent interview with Bandcamp Daily about his work on Moonlighter 2, he stated that game is his current main project. However, he also mentioned he’s “still doing some stuff for Team Cherry,” hinting at potential future sound design work for their biggest title, Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was the focus of the interview.
Larkin hasn’t shared many specifics about the game’s current development, but it suggests further updates are likely. So far, most changes to Hollow Knight: Silksong have involved adjusting boss battles. However, the game has also received some new features since its release, like an early November update that enhanced controller support – adding rumble – and expanded language options.
During the interview, Larkin acknowledged he isn’t overly focused on perfecting sound design, even though he’s received several awards from the South Australian Screen Awards and Sound Guild. While his current work with Team Cherry might just involve polishing existing sounds, he also mentioned that he and his team spent considerable time creating distinctive sounds for enemies, attacks, and other elements in Hollow Knight: Silksong. This suggests the game could feature entirely new enemies for Hornet to battle.
