Some players of Hollow Knight: Silksong are frustrated because when their Rosary Beads touch spikes, they get destroyed. This is just one of several issues that gamers have pointed out about the recently launched Hollow Knight: Silksong, which has generally been well-received but contains certain elements that have displeased a segment of its fanbase.
Launched on September 4, following approximately seven years in production, “Hollow Knight: Silksong” has swiftly gained significant popularity. Although Team Cherry has not disclosed sales figures for this widely acclaimed Metroidvania yet, during its first weekend on Steam, over half a million players engaged with the game simultaneously. The release was so successful that it caused some performance issues on other platforms like the Xbox Store and Nintendo eShop at launch, leading to temporary slowdowns and errors.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Players Are Unhappy With Losing Rosary Beads to Spikes
Ever since its release, fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong have shown great affection for it. Yet, there’s been recurring criticism about certain aspects of the game, one recent issue being that Rosary Beads get destroyed when they come into contact with spikes. A post on the Hollow Knight subreddit by Shakaow15 highlighted this problem, receiving over 3,700 upvotes. The player claimed that even with an item to attract Rosary Beads, they still get destroyed if they touch spikes. Other users added that sometimes an automatic collection tool causes the beads’ trajectory to hit the spikes, leading to their permanent loss – a situation exacerbating the initial problem.
Although this concern might seem quite irritating, it pales in comparison to other gripes gamers have about Silksong. Shortly after its release, many players expressed frustration over the game’s difficulty. Two main points of contention among the fanbase were that Hornet’s hitboxes felt excessively large and that double damage occurred far too frequently.
In the game Silksong, players often encounter a recurring issue known as boss runbacks, which has sparked debates due to its added challenge. However, some gamers argue that the game’s difficulty is justified, as Hornet is perceived to be more agile and responsive compared to the Knight, resulting in an eventual balanced experience.
Luckily, PC gamers are finding solutions to issues in games like Hollow Knight: Silksong, thanks to dedicated modders. Some popular mods lessen frustrations, such as bosses no longer dealing double damage. Others even add more benches for players, reducing concerns over runbacks. It’s reassuring that some gamers will benefit from modifying the game to suit their preferences, since Team Cherry opted not to include difficulty options in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
