Team Cherry has released Update 4 for Hollow Knight: Silksong, addressing bugs and improving the game. Interestingly, the update also includes a fix based on a popular fan-made mod. Since its unexpected release in September, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a huge hit with players.
Despite all the excitement and positive feedback, Silksong hasn’t been without its issues. A common concern among players is the game’s high difficulty. Some feel Hollow Knight: Silksong is simply too challenging, citing problems like Hornet’s large collision area and bosses dealing excessive damage, which adds unnecessary stress. While upgrades and items might help alleviate these issues, Team Cherry is consistently working to refine and improve the game.
After a few weeks in beta, Patch 4 for Hollow Knight: Silksong is now available for all PC players and will soon be released on consoles. The main challenge was perfecting the Simplified Chinese translation, which went through several revisions. Team Cherry wasn’t fully satisfied with the results, so they teamed up with the fan translation group, Team Cart Fix. Recognizing the quality of Team Cart Fix’s work – which they initially released as a mod – Team Cherry has officially incorporated their translation into the game.
So, alongside the new translation, this patch is packed with bug fixes – which is always awesome! They’ve also added some cool visual options, like a film grain effect and more control over dithering. But the biggest change for me is they switched over to Unity’s new Input System. That means way better controller support – I’m hoping my DualSense on PS5 will really shine now, and it should work better with Xbox 360 controllers too! The team says we should have rumble working on a bunch of different controllers now, and overall they’ve expanded support. They’re warning there might still be a few hiccups, but I’m excited to test it all out!
Following a recent update that adjusted enemy difficulty in Hollow Knight: Silksong, the development team at Team Cherry appears happy with how challenging the game is. They’ve confirmed Silksong is meant to be harder than the original Hollow Knight, because the new main character, Hornet, is significantly faster and more skilled than the Knight. To balance this, enemies have been designed to be more complex and clever. Players can also find alternate routes and earn extra upgrades, providing ways to overcome the increased difficulty.
