‘Horizon Copy’ Makes Several Changes Post Sony Lawsuit

Following the copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Sony, Tencent, and Polaris Quest, the webpage for the allegedly copied version of Horizon on Steam has undergone several modifications.

In case you haven’t heard, Tencent introduced Light of Motiram about a year ago, a game that looks remarkably like Sony’s well-known series, Horizon. Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment has sued Tencent for suspected copyright and trademark theft, pointing out the resemblances between their games.

Horizon Clone’s Steam Page Gets New Description, Key Art and More

Based on information from TheGamePost, the Steam page for Light of Motiram has been updated with a revised description, a fresh promotional picture, fewer and smaller screenshots, and a set date for its release.

New Description

In the old narrative, it detailed various components present within the Horizon universe, such as “gigantic machines” and “mechanized creatures.” The revised description eliminates these terms and instead focuses on advanced technology. Now, it emphasizes survival struggles and establishing a niche for yourself in this harsh, unyielding terrain.

New: “Immerse yourself in a world dominated by massive machines! Traverse a sprawling landscape, establish your base, enhance technology, train your Mechanimal allies, and confront mighty adversaries. Beginning from humble origins, pave a unique path of progression. Rebel against the mechanized order, thrive alongside your Mechanimals!

In this challenging environment, learn to utilize all resources wisely to survive and conquer powerful adversaries. Each move you make could be risky, requiring bravery. By surmounting the obstacles of survival, you can earn a spot among the tough inhabitants of this relentless territory.

Key Art Changed

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest key art for Light of Moitram! You know, the character that strongly reminds me of Aloy from the Horizon series – yes, the fiercely independent red-haired woman we all love? Well, she’s been swapped out in this new version. Instead, we now have two fascinating robotic creatures gracing the art. One resembles a penguin, and the other, a dog – quite intriguing, isn’t it? I can hardly wait to see how these mechanical marvels fit into the world of Moitram!

New Gameplay Screenshots

In the revised version, several screenshots that gave the impression of Light of Motiram being a duplicate of Horizon have been taken out. In their place, new screenshots showcasing the game’s expansive open world have been included instead. Moreover, all depictions of robots resembling those from PlayStation’s Horizon series have been eliminated.

Release Window Added

According to its Steam page, the game “Light of Motiram” is set to be launched within the last quarter of 2027.

In the legal dispute, Sony claims that Tencent has produced a game remarkably similar to Horizon, titled Light of Motiram, which mirrors various aspects like gameplay mechanics, story concepts, and artistic features, among others. Additionally, Sony mentioned that Tencent had proposed working together on a new Horizon project.
