While NCSoft and PlayStation are developing Horizon Steel Frontiers, Guerrilla Games is also working on its own multiplayer game.
Horizon Steel Frontiers, a brand new online multiplayer game, was announced yesterday. It’s planned for both PC and mobile, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. Developers have also shared that they used artificial intelligence heavily during the game’s creation.
Guerrilla’s Horizon Multiplayer Title is their ‘Next Big Project’
The confusion surrounding a potential Horizon multiplayer game was cleared up by Jason Schreier in a recent post. He explained that ‘Horizon Steel Frontiers,’ being developed by NCSoft, is separate from the multiplayer Horizon game currently in the works at Guerrilla Games. Schreier indicated that Guerrilla’s project is their next major focus, while the NCSoft MMO appears to be aimed primarily at players in Asia.
The Horizon series has been making headlines recently. First, Sony sued Tencent, claiming their new game, Light of Motiram, was too similar to Horizon. Then, NCSoft and PlayStation showed off over ten minutes of gameplay footage for Horizon Steel Frontiers. Now, it’s been announced that yet another Horizon multiplayer game is in development, meaning fans have several exciting titles to anticipate in the years ahead.
Exciting news for fans of Horizon! Court filings show the Horizon Zero Dawn movie is currently slated for a 2027 release. In other updates, Tencent has responded to a recent lawsuit, arguing that popularity doesn’t automatically establish trademark rights.
