As a gamer diving into the captivating world of Oblivion Remastered, I’m excited to share my journey into one of the most revered expansions ever created – The Shivering Isles. This legendary tale, now part of the remastered package, has solidified its place among the greats and promises an unforgettable experience. While it is typically suggested for players who have completed the main story, it’s not a strict requirement. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned adventurer revisiting these chilling islands, this guide will walk you through kicking off The Shivering Isles DLC in Oblivion Remastered.
How to Start The Shivering Isles DLC in Oblivion Remastered
Complete the Tutorial:
It is suggested by some players to hold off on starting “The Shivering Isles DLC” until after finishing the main story in Oblivion Remastered, but it appears that only completing the game’s initial tutorial is necessary to begin this story expansion. However, even though you have the option to start it early, it might not be advisable to do so.
It’s perfectly fine, if not advisable, to finish the “Knights of the Nine” DLC prior to wrapping up the main quest. However, it might be more beneficial for your character to have advanced a bit before encountering Haskill at the Strange Door.
Visit the Strange Door:
In the initial version of the game ‘Oblivion‘, players needed to wait for 24 in-game days after finishing the tutorial before they could explore the “Strange Door” and embark on the “A Door in Niben Bay” quest. We anticipated this would remain consistent, so we employed the game’s time-passing feature to mimic the wait.

After wrapping up the initial tutorial, I’d suggest making a beeline for the enigmatic island known as Strange Door, nestled in Niben Bay off the eastern coast of The Heartlands. If you’re looking for a convenient fast-travel spot, the bustling town of Bravil would be your best bet.

Leaving Bravil’s gates and venturing into the Heartlands, you’ll find it simple to swim to the island nestled within the bay. The distinctive rock formation resembling a head, known as the Strange Door, can be spotted here. As you near this door, the “A Door in Niben Bay” quest will initiate automatically.

Approach the characters near the mysterious entrance known as the Strange Door. Soon after this action, an adversary will appear and assault Gaius Prentus. Converse with him once more following the confrontation to advance the mission.
Enter the Portal at the Strange Door:

After all conversations have come to an end, step through the peculiar doorway. Within, you’ll encounter a unique character called Haskill. He’ll outline the key features of the Shivering Isles expansion pack for you.

Following Haskill’s presentation, he encourages you to ponder it at your own pace before coming back to him whenever ready. Feel free to discuss matters with him immediately, or take some time to prepare more thoroughly. If you decide to become his mortal champion in the future, an awe-inspiring spectacle will unfold as the surrounding environment vanishes.

Completing “A Door in Niben Bay” initiates the subsequent quest within “The Shivering Isles,” marking the start of the DLC’s main storyline.
