How Does EV Training & Nature Work in Pokemon Champions?

In Pokemon Champions, you can customize your Pokemon by influencing their strengths and characteristics. Using Victory Points and the Training feature, you can adjust their Effort Values (EVs) and Nature. However, the EV system works a little differently than in other Pokemon games, so understanding how to train them effectively is important. When you add new Pokemon to your team, they won’t always have the best Nature, but you can change it. This guide explains how to train EVs and alter your Pokemon’s Nature in Pokemon Champions.

How to EV Train And Change Natures in Pokemon Champions

To improve your Pokémon’s Effort Values (EVs) in Pokémon Champions, navigate to ‘Train’ on the main menu and choose the Pokémon you’d like to train from the list on the left.

EV Training lets you distribute a total of 66 EV points as you see fit. For instance, a Thyplosion might have 32 points in Special Attack, 32 in Speed, and 2 in HP, as shown in the images. Each point costs VP, and you can see the total cost displayed next to the ‘Commence Training’ button.

If a Pokémon has its Effort Value (EV) distribution messed up – which often happens when moving Pokémon from older games – you can fix it using Victory Points (VP). Simply increase or decrease the values of each stat until the EV spread is how you want it.

We’ve renamed ‘Nature’ to ‘Stat Alignment.’ You can now adjust it through the menu on the bottom left of your screen. Keep in mind that changing your Pokemon’s Stat Alignment costs VP, so it’s important to carefully consider which alignment and Effort Value (EV) spread will work best.

Stat Alignment now functions similarly to how Natures used to, increasing one stat while decreasing another. However, Pokemon Champion removed several Natures that didn’t affect stats (Docile, Hardy, Bashful, and Quirky), leaving Serious as the only neutral option. This is a significant change in competitive battling, so remember it when training your Pokémon.
