Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting an upgrade on January 15th! The update will improve the game for everyone, and those who buy it on the new Nintendo Switch 2 will also enjoy enhanced graphics. This comes six years after the game’s original release and four years after the 2.0 update.

How Much is Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch 2?
The new Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch 2 costs $64.99, which is $5 more expensive than the original version for the standard Switch.
If you buy the original Nintendo Switch version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll still get all the free content from the big 3.0 update. However, you won’t be able to use features only available on the new Switch 2, like having up to 12 players in multiplayer.
Okay, so if you’re thinking about getting the Happy Home Paradise DLC, it costs $24.99. Just a heads-up though – you do need to have the original Animal Crossing: New Horizons game first to be able to play it!
How Much is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrade?
If you have Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the original Nintendo Switch, upgrading to the version for the new Switch 2 will only cost $5.
You don’t need to buy the game all over again. Nintendo has a more affordable way to get it, but upgrading from the original Switch to the new one and then buying the game won’t actually save you any money.
We’re still waiting to find out if the Switch 2 version of the game will need a full download, or if it can be updated from the original. However, other Nintendo games that have been upgraded for the Switch 2 do require a fresh installation.
