In “Ancient Barrier,” Kliff travels to the Windsong Peaks of the Scorched Mountain Pailune, hoping to find a lost god. The quest is quite confusing and difficult, made worse by bad weather like lightning and rain that obscures your vision and makes it unclear what you need to do.

This guide provides a complete walkthrough of the puzzle, breaking down each step to help you solve it easily. Successfully completing the puzzle will unlock a challenging boss fight, where you’ll have the chance to prove yourself to a powerful god.

You can begin the “Ancient Barrier” faction quest after completing several side quests for the Stjar Clan in Pailune.

How to Activate the Broken Ancient Lightning Device in Crimson Desert

Activate the North Coil Pillar

  1. Head to the far north area to find a Coil Pillar and a Coil Pedestal on the mountain.
  2. Use Turning Slash (R1+R2) on the ice to free the Coil Pillar.
  3. Use Nature’s Grasp to move the Coil Pillar onto the Coil Pedestal.
  4. Push the lever on the Coil Pillar until it’s facing south, and direct lightning to the Coil Pillar in the south.

Activate the First South Coil Pillar

  1. Fly south of the first Coil Pillar to find another one already activated.
  2. The Coil Pillar’s lever should be facing south, directing lightning to another Coil Pillar in the far south region.

Activate the Second South Coil Pillar

  1. Continue south to find a Coil Pillar on the ground, which can be attached to the Coil Pedestal with Nature’s Grasp.
  2. Once activated, push the lever west so it’s shooting lightning off into the distance in the west region.

Activate the West Coil Pillar

  1. Head to the far west Coil Pillar.
  2. Rotate the lever until it’s facing northeast.
  3. The lightning should direct into another Coil Pillar that’s directly below it.

Activate the Coil Status Panel

  1. With all Coil Pillars activated, head to the center to find the Coil Status Panel.
  2. All coils should have lightning surging on them.
  3. Stand in the middle, and the platform will light up, and a cutscene will begin that will direct you to the mountain’s peak.
