Heartopia lets you connect with wild animals by feeding and befriending them, and later, you can adopt pets to keep at home. Cats and dogs are the first pets available, so here’s how to add a furry companion to your Heartopia world.
Just like anywhere else, Heartopia is home to many different dog breeds, each with its own unique personality. These dogs need consistent care to thrive. If you’re thinking about adopting a dog in Heartopia and want to know what’s involved in providing proper care, this guide has everything you need to know.
How to Unlock the Dog Caring Hobby in Heartopia & Adopt a Dog
Okay, so if you want to start taking care of dogs in the game, you first need to get to Developer Guild Level 12. The quickest way to level up is by doing all five of the daily Resident Requests. If you keep at it, you should reach Level 12 in a week or two. Then, once you are at Level 12, you need to go find Mrs. Joan at the Adoption Center – she’s the one who teaches you everything about pet care!
Before you can start caring for dogs, you’ll need to complete the Cat Caring hobby first. We’ve provided a guide to help you with that. Once you’ve finished caring for cats, talk to Mrs. Joan. She’ll trade you a Hobby Expansion Ticket for the Dog Caring hobby, which then lets you adopt dogs.
We have three dogs available for adoption daily. If you don’t find a breed you like, you can come back tomorrow for a fresh group.

How to Increase Bond With a Dog in Heartopia
Giving your dog food is a quick way to strengthen your relationship with them. Because dogs get hungry after playing, you’ll need to feed them multiple times each day. Simply tap the bowl icon to feed your dog. You can purchase dog food from Mrs. Joan’s shop, but your dog will also eat certain mushrooms or even cooked food if you’re short on dog food.
Okay, so I’ve found that training my dog is a really good way to level up our bond in the game. I just tap the little paw icon and hit ‘Train,’ and then I have to react to what my dog does. But it’s not just training, either! Stuff like cleaning my dog, taking it for walks, and just generally interacting with it also helps us get closer. It’s all about spending time together, basically!
