In Crimson Desert, your ally Pierce, who fights alongside Greymane, needs your help. He wants you to check out the gamblers in Hernand to see if they’re easy to beat. He’s asking you to visit the town’s gambling hall and play a few rounds to get a feel for the competition. Keep in mind that the gambling in Crimson Desert isn’t just about luck β there’s skill involved too! If you want to learn how to spot cheaters or improve your bluffing, here’s a helpful guide.
Crimson Desert Pierce’s Request Guide
Okay, so first you need to head to the gambling den in Hernand castle town β it’s upstairs in the tavern. You can’t miss it, there’s a tough-looking guy guarding the door. Go inside and just grab one of the empty stools at the gambling tables to get started. The game they play here is called Duo β it’s kinda like Poker, where you’re trying to get a better hand than everyone else.
To finish Pierce’s Request in Crimson Desert, simply play one round of Duo. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose! However, keep in mind that each game costs 15 Silver. If you’re short on funds, you can earn more by completing quests, selling items, or converting stolen Gold Bars into Silver at the Hernand Bank.
Casinos in other parts of Pywel might have different names and use more cards or tokens, but the game itself is the same, and the rules remain consistent.
How to Play Duo
To win, you simply need a better hand than everyone else. This means either having a stronger, officially-recognized hand combination, or a higher total point value. Your hand’s point value is calculated by adding up the points on all your cards, and then using only the last digit of the total. For example, if your cards add up to 13, your point total would be 3.
You can see a list of all players’ hands, from strongest to weakest, by clicking the ‘View Hands’ button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. If your hand looks good β meaning it has a strong chance of winning β you might want to increase your bet. If you’re feeling confident, you can even go ‘all-in’ for a potentially large payout.
If you’re new to games like this, here’s some helpful information to get you started.
- Raise: Increase the amount of money you want to bet by a certain amount.
- Call: Raise the current bet by an equal amount.
- Fold: Skip the current round, forfeiting any chance of winning.
- Check: Pass your turn to the next player.
- All-in: Bet all of your money.
How to Catch People Cheating in Duo
As a long-time player, I’ve noticed a really easy way to spot cheaters β especially when they’re the dealer! It’s funny, but honest players usually pick up the game pieces by the top. Cheaters? They almost always grab them from the sides. And here’s a cool bonus: the first time you see a cheater in Duo mode, you actually learn a special ‘Cheat’ skill! It lets you turn the tables and use a little deception yourself, which is pretty awesome.
If you notice a non-player character consistently winning bets, especially when they bet large amounts, they’re probably cheating. Don’t hesitate to call them out if they keep winning repeatedly after making unusually high bets.
If you falsely accuse another player of cheating, you’ll be removed from the game and won’t be allowed to play at that table for roughly one in-game day. If you still want to play, you can find a different game, or simply rest and wait it out.
Timing Your Actions
Duo/Seotda involves a lot of strategy and psychological play against the computer opponents. A well-timed bet can make them believe you have a better hand than you do, and cause them to give up. Generally, betting right at the beginning of your turn makes opponents think you have a strong hand.
However, this isn’t a foolproof strategy. If your opponent challenges you and has a stronger hand, you’ll lose your Silver.
