How to Beat Bloodedge Demon in Nioh 3

Nioh 3 introduces a new way to explore the game world. As players venture through each area, the map automatically highlights all the collectible items. While this system reveals a lot, it doesn’t show where boss fights are located. For example, the challenging Bloodedge Demon is a secret boss that players can summon, but they’ll need to fulfill certain requirements first.

The Bloodedge Demon is one of the toughest bosses you’ll encounter early in the game, so it’s best to wait until you’ve explored most of the map and leveled up your skills before challenging it. Here’s a breakdown of how to summon this powerful enemy in Nioh 3.

How to Summon & Find Bloodedge Demon in Nioh 3

To summon the Bloodedge Demon, you’ll first need to find and defeat a Revenant Grave. Once defeated, the revenant will release red, glowing orbs that float upwards. Follow the direction these orbs travel, and you’ll see an arrow appear on your map guiding you.

These graves are a good source of Ochoko Cups, items you’ll need to summon a helpful character to assist with difficult boss battles.

Continue following the arrows to locate more Revenant Graves. If an arrow points backward, it means you’ve gone too far – head back to the midpoint between your current location and the last grave you found.

When you get to the Bloodedge Demon’s location, you’ll see many Revenant Graves nearby, including a large, purple one that says, “The malice of all Revenants defeated thus far is gathering.” The Demon moves around to different spots, so you’ll encounter these graves multiple times as you search for it throughout the game.

How to Beat Bloodedge Demon in Nioh 3

This fight is quite difficult early in the game, so it’s best to be at least level 40 before attempting it. Even at a high level, one attack – a powerful overhead slash – can instantly defeat you. The boss will pull back and bring its weapons crashing down, and while dodging is possible, it’s safer to block or deflect this attack using the Samurai Style. Fortunately, most of the boss’s other attacks are easily blocked and don’t stagger you much, making the Samurai Style a good choice for the entire fight.

The Bloodedge Demon fights with lightning and water from its katanas, and these attacks can leave you with harmful status effects and open you up for another hit. To stay safe while still dealing damage, keep a moderate distance from the boss so you have time to react to everything it does.

You can also make use of the Ninjutsu, like Fire Shuriken and Caltrops, to keep the boss at bay.

After you defeat the boss, you’ll receive several rare items, and you might even get the boss’s Soul Core, which can be used in future fights.
