How to Beat Chester Stoddart in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

In “Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana,” players engage in battles against multiple formidable foes, ultimately leading them to the ancient, pagan site known as Illburns Ruins. It is here that they will face their third game boss, Chester Stoddart, the infamous White Knight with a Black Heart. This character first appeared in the long-running “Ys” series during “Ys 3,” a game that “Ys Memoirs” is a remake of.

Defeating each boss brings the player one step closer to finishing Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana. The longer a player delves into the game’s content, the longer it might take to conquer it. Some bosses may require more attempts than others, and attempting to battle Chester in the same way as the last two could result in several unsuccessful tries.

How to Beat Chester Stoddart in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

So far, each boss the player has encountered has had unique strategies to defeat them. For instance, defeating Dularn, The Creeping Shadow required maneuvering around his shield, while Ellefale, the Azure Queen needed maintaining a safe distance at all times. However, Chester is different as he presents a more straightforward challenge.

As a gamer, I’ve found that taking on Chester might seem like a simple battle at first glance, but don’t let that fool you. To stand a chance against him, I strongly recommend leveling up Adol and enhancing his equipment by grinding for experience points and better gear respectively. It’s advisable to reach level 15 before attempting to face off with Chester, as he packs quite a punch even on the game’s default difficulty. That’s right, you read it correctly – Chester has a whopping 700 Health points. Brace yourself for a tough fight!

Chester Stoddart’s Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Chester possesses a diverse and potentially harmful collection of weapons, each requiring unique defensive strategies. Here’s what he intends to employ in an attack:

Chester boasts a wide range of adaptable and risky weaponry. Each item necessitates distinct defense tactics. The following assault strategies are his choice:

  • Sword Strikes
  • Charged Strike
  • Dash
  • Throwing Knives
  • Chain Explosions
  • Protective Barrier

Sword Strikes

As Chester approaches, he’ll launch a series of sword attacks towards the player. It would be wise to maintain some space until a suitable opportunity arises to retaliate and inflict damage.

Charged Strike

Chester will pause for a bit to recharge himself, then dash swiftly toward the player without leaving much room for evasion. To avoid being hit, players should leap, thereby allowing Chester to pass, thus opening an opportunity for the player to inflict some damage.

Dash

Suddenly, Chester vanishes and pops up in various spots. This maneuver allows him to rearrange himself and possibly shift the battle’s outcome. To avoid being cornered, it would be wise to move in a circular pattern when this happens.

Throwing Knives

Chester occasionally hurls knives toward the character. Unlike swift projectiles from others, these knives are relatively slow-moving, making them simple for the character to step aside. When a knife appears to be about to strike the character, they can leap to evade it.

Chain Explosions

Over Chester, a big, sky-blue bubble is going to take shape. Following that, a series of explosions will occur. Once you notice the bubble appearing, make sure to step out of its boundaries to avoid harming Adol.

Protective Barrier

Similar to the strategy used against Dularn, Chester could utilize a protective shield. This shield serves as a sponge, soaking up every attack directed at it. Rather than engaging in a melee, it’s wiser to retreat and maintain some distance to ensure Chester doesn’t launch any counterattacks with his sword.
