In the initial adventure within the game “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, action unfolds in the Nord Mines. Once you’ve vanquished the boss, prepare to face the mighty Fire Dragon named Mauna. This tutorial provides essential information about Fire Dragon Mauna and effective tactics to overcome it, ensuring you reap the rewards.

In simpler terms, players can advance through the primary narrative of Refantazio demo, which saves their progress once the full game is launched.

Should You Fight Fire Dragon Mauna?

Inside a spacious chamber, the formidable Fire Dragon Mauna makes its home, with two possible escape routes. Upon entering this space, your comrades might caution against engaging the Dragon due to the tough battle that awaits. On either side of the combat arena, various creatures wander aimlessly and could create trouble if they spot you. A more prudent course of action would be to slip away unnoticed through one of the passages and escape the mine. Contrary to what your allies might suggest, the boss fight may not be as daunting as initially perceived.

In this game, it’s essential that each member of your party is fully healed and has at least 50 Magic Points (MP). The reason for this is that the upcoming boss can inflict 75 points of damage during each turn, regardless of the difficulty level. This battle will be your final confrontation in the mines, and the prizes you’ll receive from winning make it a worthwhile challenge. However, players who lack healing items and have low health may find themselves forced to bypass the boss instead.

Regardless of the initial abilities you select during the enlistment phase, they have minimal impact on this battle since distinctions become hardly discernible as the game progresses.

For the Fire Dragon Mauna fight, players need at least one Mage Archetype in their party. This is because the boss is weak against Ice Attacks. If you bought Ice Chunks, an item that deals 100 Ice damage, from the Peddler, you must use them throughout the fight to get additional turns off the boss’s weakness break.

If your character embodies the Warrior Archetype, it’s crucial that they remain at the forefront during battles, while other party members should retreat to minimize damage received. Engaging with the boss on Hard difficulty introduces a fresh attack to its repertoire, making recovery more challenging.

Characters boasting a greater Agility stat tend to land more successful strikes, be it their Ice or regular attacks, against the boss figure.

In the opening move, the Dragon’s attack is called Scratch. This involves the Dragon using its claw to strike one of your team members, potentially causing damage between 75 and 100 to those in the front row. The second attack is Fireball, which similarly focuses on a single party member. However, if you have a Seeker character in your group, be prepared for a challenging fight since Seekers are vulnerable to fire, and the boss tends to capitalize on this weakness.

On the challenging difficulty level, the boss possesses an additional move known as Tail Sweep. This attack harms all characters lined up in a row. Interestingly, the boss executes this maneuver not just once, but twice, targeting both the front and back rows. For optimal performance on Hard difficulty, it’s recommended to field a team consisting of one Mage and two Warriors.

Enthusiastic players looking to employ the Seeker Archetype during combat could boost their Ice damage against the boss by equipping the Tarukaja on a Mage character.
