How To Beat Jin In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned veteran of the fantastical world of Metaphor: ReFantazio, I can confidently say that the final month of this game is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The Tournament Of The Throne has brought us all to our wits’ end, and among the many contestants vying for that coveted crown, none have piqued my interest quite like the cunning rogue, Jin.

In the last phase of the game, ReFantazio‘s rivals from the Tournament Of The Throne will confront him in a series of potentially lethal encounters as they strive to climb the rankings. Some of these conflicts can be avoided, but the battle with Jin can only be triggered by accepting the Petty Thief mission.

In order to embark on this mission, your relationship with Neuras must be at a rank of seven or higher. Once you achieve that, this journey will commence. Initially, you should follow the trail of the thief who took the relics, and then recover them for us. Here’s how to go about it.

Starting Petty Thief In Metaphor: ReFantazio

After starting the Petty Thief quest, make your way to Grand Trad’s Recruitment Centre. On the right side of the steps leading into the building, you’ll find a guard with three dots above his head. Speak with him to learn that Jin is the thief and to have his location marked on your map. Although he’s supposedly en route to the Mines, which usually takes a day in-game, Jin will remain there until the end of the game, so you can take your time tracking him down.

On a leisure day, reconnect with the Gauntlet Runner and embark on a journey to Jin’s destination. This travel will consume an entire day, and the combat instigation will follow straight after your off-duty hours on the Gauntlet Runner.

How To Beat Jin In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Jin is level 65 and his guards are level 64.

As a devoted admirer, I must admit that facing Jin in battle is like going up against an invincible opponent, as he seems to lack any discernible weaknesses. However, it’s essential to remember that his allies do possess vulnerabilities that can be exploited. By employing a strategic attack-all spell, you can inflict damage not only on him but also on his companions, thereby tilting the battle in your favor.

  • Mercenary Pikeman – Weakness: Fire
  • Mercenary Mage – Weakness: Electric

Some recommended party members for this fight are Junah with her Royal Archetype and Eupha with hers. Have your best damage-dealing Archetype on the Protagonist and another strength-focused character such as Basilio. The Royal Masked Dancer can use Ruin’s Flameflower while the Royal Summoner uses Summon Dragon God, as both will hit a weakness and deal a lot of damage to all enemies.

Have the Protagonist and Basilio concentrate their efforts on weakening Jin. If available, they can employ defensive-reducing attacks characteristic of Brawler types. The Royal Masked Dancer could also execute a Hellfire Dance on Jin, making him vulnerable to fire for one attack, significantly boosting the damage inflicted by Summon Dragon God and helping to swiftly diminish his strength, especially when combined with the Pikeman’s efforts.

During the battle, while Jin may not inflict significant damage, he possesses a powerful healing spell for the entire team towards its conclusion. Moreover, he’ll attempt to enchant your party members using items. To counteract his best move, consider activating either Patra or Ren Patra on one of your party members via Skill Inheritance. Doing so will remove that move from Jin’s repertoire. Defeating Jin triggers Neuras’ final bond level and wraps up the side quest.
