In Silksong, as I approached Shellwood, left from Bellhart, I found myself on a quest to circle almost the entire region before eventually re-encountering Sister Splinter. This formidable foe has given many players quite a challenge due to her potent Triple Slam attack, her capability to summon allies, and maneuvers that hinder your movements by trapping parts of the arena with vines, making it tricky to dodge her slams.
If you master predicting Sister Splinter’s actions, manage to dodge its slams skillfully, and keep the vines and other foes in the room under control, you can develop a rhythm to conquer this boss with minimal difficulties.
In the realm of Shellwood within Silksong, here’s my own journey on locating Sister Splinter, vanquishing her as the boss, and uncovering the rewards after subduing this bizarre root-beast:
1. Journey to Shellwood, a vibrant and mystical region filled with towering mushrooms and lush greenery. Keep your eyes peeled for a hidden entrance that may lead you deeper into her lair.
2. Face off against the enigmatic Sister Splinter, a formidable boss who wields powerful abilities rooted in the earth itself. Be prepared to dodge and weave around her attacks while finding openings to land your own strikes.
3. Triumph over Sister Splinter, and be rewarded with valuable loot that will undoubtedly aid you further in your adventure! The exact rewards may vary, but expect some amazing new abilities or items to make your journey even more exciting!
Where to Find Sister Splinter in Silksong
Deep Within Shellwood, to the Left of Bellhart
To find Sister Splinter, you should first navigate down through Shellwood’s lower levels until you come across the vertical shaft on the extreme left. Climb up this shaft and when you reach the top, take the exit located in the upper-right corner to enter a spacious room. In this room, you will find a Weaver statue positioned high above at its summit.
For the moment, leave the current room through the door on the right-hand side. After that, move through the following room to your right, find the elevator shortcut above the central bench in the next room, and unlock it. From the central bench, ascend in the elevator and proceed to the right. Then, leap and slash flowers to reach the top-left corner of the ensuing room, continue moving left until Sister Splinter comes into view.
Optimal Sister Splinter Runback Route & Closest Bench

For the Sister Splinter battle, the optimal location is the central bench in Shellwood, linked to an elevator shortcut that you should activate during your journey to the Sister Splinter boss encounter. You can secure access to this bench earlier within the zone, but it comes at a cost of 60 Rosaries.
To reach Sister Splinter, proceed as follows: Take the elevator up and exit to the right. Walk around the room located in the upper right corner of the zone until you find two white flowers. Cross over those flowers by moving downward, then continue moving left to eventually arrive safely at Sister Splinter’s location.

Triple Slam | Raises one arm briefly before slamming down in a slightly diagonal arc. Alternates between left and right three times. | Dodge in the opposite direction of the slam – if its right hand is active, dodge to the left. Dodge the two follow-up slams the same way. This is Sister Splinter’s primary attack. When it summons thorny vines that block off the room, it can be incredibly difficult to avoid without taking damage from something. Use Silkspear (or break the vines with your Needle) to create more room to dodge away. |

Summon Ally | Sister Splinter roars, then retreats into the ceiling. Up to two spaces on the wall light up, indicating the location where flying allies will spawn. These enemies can fly through thorns. | Attack the boss as it roars, you can get about 4 or 5 hits in during this animation. Use Tools and the Silkspear ability to dispatch the flying enemies as fast as you can. |

Summon Thorn Vines | Retreats into the ceiling, then a beam will indicate the direction a long thorny vine will launch into the floor. These vines take three hits to break, and multiple can be summoned at once. | If there are only one or two thorn vines, simply hit them with your needle to break them and free up more space in the boss arena. If there are more than two, consider using Silkspear to break multiple at once and save some time (though you will have to wait longer to Bind and heal). |

Multi-Thorns | Retreats into the ceiling, then six beams will appear across the top of the room. After a moment, thorn vines will launch into the ground from the outside in, severely limiting the amount of space Hornet has to maneuver. As Hornet breaks vines, more will take their place. | Move between two of the beams to avoid taking damage from the thorns, then use Silkspear to break multiple vines at once instantly. |
Sister Splinter Boss Tips & Tricks

- If you do not have enough Silk to cast Silkspear during the room-blanketing Multi-Thorn attack, get to the center of the room, then rapidly hit the two thorns on both sides when they appear.
- After clearing the middle space, go toward one wall and hit vines on the way. Though vines will respawn as you destroy them at first, they will stop respawning after about three waves.
- Make sure you clear at least three thorn vines worth of space to have room to dodge the slam.
- Traps and Tools that can damage enemies in mid-air are practically essential for the parts of the fight when a flying ally appears.
- Foe example, the is thrown in an arc like a spear, and can hit both Sister Splinter and any flying enemies at the top of the arc, even if they are near the ceiling out of Hornet’s normal reach.
- Tools are also incredibly useful for dealing with the Multi-Thorn attack. Longpin will pierce through vines in its way. Spam this Tool to quickly break multiple vines at once (if you have enough Tool ammo to spam it, that is).
- If you can time your dodges well, you can jump up and attack Sister Splinter in between each of its slam attacks, netting a handful of additional hits during this move.
What Happens After Beating Sister Splinter in Silksong?
Following victory against Sister Splinter, players of Silksong will gain access to the remainder of Shellwood. Of particular interest is the path to the upper portion of a room that Hornet previously explored, which lies to the left of the boss arena. By circumnavigating the central pillar, you’ll eventually encounter a weaver statue.
Tie up near this statue to acquire the Cling Grasp ability, a valuable mobility feature for Hornet. This ability enables her to cling onto vertical surfaces and wall jump. Acquiring the Cling Grasp ability gives players the opportunity to proceed through Shellwood towards the Widow battle to save Bellhart. However, this skill also allows players to revisit earlier zones to explore areas that were previously out of reach.
