As a huge Mewgenics fan, I love how each chapter makes you really earn your progress. You have to fight through a bunch of battles to unlock the next act and eventually finish the chapter! Sometimes you’ll face smaller bosses with waves of enemies in turn-based fights, and other times it’s straight to the big boss. What’s really cool is that every boss battle has its own unique theme song – it makes each fight feel extra special!
The Radical Rat Boss is the last enemy in the first chapter of Mewgenics, and can be tough to beat without a good strategy. This guide will show you how to defeat it quickly and easily.
All Stats and Attacks of Radical Rat Boss

This boss is exactly what its name suggests: a huge rodent sporting sunglasses. It has one attack – it throws explosive Spawn Bombs at you while staying far away.
These explosives are shaped like rat heads and create a large blast area – they affect the tile they land on, plus nine tiles in every direction around it (look for the grey exclamation mark to see the danger zone!). Luckily, they don’t explode instantly. Instead, they detonate after your current fighter cat has finished its turn, immediately following the boss’s attack. Any tile hit by the explosion will catch fire, and if your cat steps on a burning tile, it will take damage.
How to Beat the Radical Rat Boss in Mewgenics
To easily defeat the Radical Rat boss in Mewgenics, quickly destroy the Spawn Bomb as soon as it appears. Any attack from your cat – a basic attack, or even a passive or active ability – will do, since the bomb only has 1 health point. The boss generally throws these bombs near your cats, making them easy to hit. Act fast, though, because if you wait too long, the arena will fill up with dangerous bombs!
Once the bomb is deactivated, focus on attacking Radical Rat.
That’s basically the core strategy: hit the bomb first, then the boss.
Okay, so as a fan, I’ve found ranged units are really effective in this fight. Basically, anything that can attack from a distance does well, and the Hunter class is especially amazing against Radical Rat. If you’ve got items like the Puzzle Box or abilities like Grab or Minihook, use them to pull the boss closer – ideally near your tanks or melee fighters. It makes a huge difference!
Okay, so a big tip I learned the hard way: don’t line up all your cats in a single row or column! If you mess up disabling that Spawn Bomb, it’ll hit everything in that line with fire damage, and that’s a quick way to lose a bunch of cats. Trust me, spread ’em out!
Remember to use your Mana to heal yourself and your nearby teammates. Also, grab food items when you see them – they’ll constantly restore health, which is important because your cats probably took some damage in the last fights and you need to keep them alive.
Before fighting the Radical Rat, choose traits that complement your cat’s special abilities. Also, consider equipping helpful trinkets, even though you’ll lose them if you lose the battle. Tracy’s Adventure Store sells useful items like Antidote (to remove negative effects), Conductor (for extra electrical damage if you have a cat that works with it), and a Fanny Pack (to get more food drops). Keep in mind that the store’s items change randomly, so you might not see everything there each time.
