How to Beat the Ranger Challenge in Phasmophobia

In the game Phasmophobia, players encounter various tasks designed to challenge their abilities and offer exclusive prizes upon completion. Some tasks might appear intimidating due to their requirements, but often, it’s just about employing the right strategies to simplify things significantly.

One obstacle that fits into that group in Phasmophobia is known as the “Ranger Challenge.” To avoid getting metaphorically lost in the woods and triumphantly completing this series of tasks, here’s a helpful tip:

1. Preparation: Gather essential equipment, such as a map, flashlight, batteries, food, water, and any other necessary items before venturing out.
2. Planning: Study your surroundings and develop a clear strategy to tackle each objective efficiently.
3. Execution: Follow your plan while maintaining constant awareness of your environment, adjusting strategies as necessary based on new information or challenges encountered along the way.
4. Adaptability: Be prepared to face unexpected obstacles and adapt quickly to overcome them, using your problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
5. Teamwork: Communicate effectively with team members and work together to achieve common goals, leveraging each other’s strengths to conquer the challenge as a united front.
6. Persistence: Stay focused and determined, pushing through setbacks and maintaining a positive attitude until you successfully complete the Ranger Challenge.

How to Unlock the Ranger Challenge in Phasmophobia

In October 2024, during its Halloween event (Crimson Eye 0.11.0 update), the Ranger Challenge was incorporated into the game Phasmophobia. Unlike other features, there are no specific requirements to unlock this challenge. Nevertheless, fresh players should advance their progress to a point where they have permanently unlocked both the Camp Woodwind and Maple Lodge Campsite maps, as these maps are integral to the Ranger Challenge.

In the game, an additional feature – the Official Event Board – has been included. This tool assists players by showing them which unique tasks (distinct from weekly missions) are currently accessible within the game, as well as their advancement in those tasks. You can spot the Ranger Challenge right at the center-top of the Event Board, located in the main lobby area of the game.

How to Beat the Ranger Challenge in Phasmophobia

The Ranger Challenge stands out because it demands a much larger quantity of completed investigations in order to earn its rewards, whereas weekly challenges ask for just three.

According to the guidelines provided in the Event Board’s brochure for the contest, you should carry out investigations at either Camp Woodwind or Maple Lodge Campsite, which are the game’s two outdoor maps. You don’t have to visit both spots; feel free to choose whichever location suits you best.

To officially finish the challenge, all you have to do is successfully recognize the ghost. The additional tasks mentioned in the manual are merely optional, and so is capturing photos or discovering the bone artifact. However, completing these tasks can provide you with some extra experience points and money for your gear setup, since you’ll primarily be using your own tools for this mission.

To conquer the Ranger Challenge and claim its prizes, you must finish a total of 50 investigations on either or both maps. Keep tabs on your progress in the challenge through the Event Board, and once you’ve wrapped up your last investigation, you’ll receive a notification about unlocked rewards.

In the game, the Ranger Challenge has become a permanent feature. Therefore, there’s no need to rush and finish it immediately. Take your time instead!

Tips For Beating the Ranger Challenge

Exploring for ghosts in the forest can seem quite daunting, but with the right strategies, this ghost-hunting journey can be transformed into an achievable and less scary experience.

Firstly, out of the two map options available, Camp Woodwind is undoubtedly the more suitable choice. It’s noticeably smaller than Maple Lodge Campsite, boasting an open layout that provides a clear view from the entrance most of the time. Conversely, Maple Lodge can often feel like a confusing labyrinth, particularly challenging to navigate in the dark. Ideally, you’d prefer a map that gives you maximum control over your surroundings, and Camp Woodwind seems to fit that description perfectly.

As a gamer, before diving into my next investigation, I’d recommend adjusting the Difficulty settings to ‘Easy Mode’. Picking an Amateur level won’t impact your overall points, but it will certainly simplify the process of completing the investigation, making it smoother and quicker.

To finish these tasks most quickly to maximize your rewards from the challenge, even if it means less EXP, choosing the easiest level would be the ideal choice.

Additionally, I recommend you gather the top-notch gear available for this task, ideally consisting of Tier 2 and Tier 3 items throughout. Having superior tools will undoubtedly make the job smoother. You might also consider waiting until your inventory is fully upgraded and well-equipped before tackling this mission or invite a companion who can provide premium equipment.

Participating in this task with friends isn’t compulsory, but it certainly offers mutual benefits. With additional hands to transport gear and monitor strange phenomena, the investigations will progress quicker. Plus, there’s an added advantage: everyone earns credit for the challenge.

Ranger Challenge Rewards in Phasmophobia

Finishing the Ranger Challenge within Phasmophobia grants you an exclusive ID badge and card background adorned with a forest theme and a campfire emblem (as displayed above). Additionally, it awards you the ‘Ranger’ title prominently displayed at its top.

Just like modifying any other ID badge or personalizing its appearance within the game, you can make changes at your convenience, excluding during an investigation. You may do this by clicking on the Edit button located in the upper right corner of your ID profile. The top row showcases the Prestige badges you’ve unlocked thus far, while the second row displays ‘Special Badges’, which are earned from unique challenges such as this one.
