In Crimson Desert, you can earn resources like money, food, milk, and fleece by breeding animals at your ranch. It’s a hands-off way to gain income from your base – simply place a male and female animal together at the ranch, and they’ll reproduce on their own. Here’s a breakdown of how it works.
How to Breed Livestock in Crimson Desert
In Crimson Desert, you can breed animals by putting a male and female of the same type together in your ranch. You’ll need to build a ranch first, which you can do during the Greymanes’ Field of Abundance faction quest in Howling Hill.
All animals come in male and female versions, and you can only breed them once they’ve both fully matured and are placed in your ranch.
Once a male and female animal are paired at the ranch, they will typically have a baby within 5 to 10 days, though this varies by species. For instance, goats usually give birth after about 5 days, while cows take longer.
This table lists all the male and female animals you can breed in Crimson Desert, and tells you where to find them in the game.

Only ranch animals that have been officially registered can reproduce. To register an animal, simply lead it through the stall on the far right of the ranch. If you’d like to see a complete list of registered animals, talk to Ben.
What Should You Feed Animals in Crimson Desert?
Young animals like chicks, baby goats, and calves need plenty of food to grow up. You can provide food by placing it in the feed bin at the ranch. They’ll eat almost anything you put in there, but some foods help them grow better than others.
When you look at an animal’s information through the Manage Ranch menu while speaking with Ben, yellow lines indicate its growth. Currently, the most effective animal feed in Crimson Desert includes Apples, Carrots, Lentils, Eggs, and various vegetables available at the Grocer’s Shop in Hernand.
Food is not a requirement for breeding; only for helping baby animals grow into adults.
