How to Build the Chair in Borderlands 4 (The Importance of Being Furnished)

Wrenching Allen is a quirky character you’ll meet in Belton’s Bore, Terminus Range, after interacting with the Augers. He’s not interested in the main conflict between the Order and the Timekeeper; he’s an artist focused solely on his work. In Borderlands 4, players will help Allen build a chair, and your choices during the quest will determine the final outcome. If you’re looking for the locations of all the chair parts for the quest ‘The Importance of Being Furnished,’ and want to know the best decision to make regarding Allen’s creation, keep reading.

Where to Find the Assembly Instructions

In the game Wrenching Allen, players need to find the instructions for building a chair. Allen will send you to three different places, and at each one, you’ll have to look for a specific item. Here’s a list of those locations and what you need to find at each, in the order you’ll visit them:

  • Search trash – Head to the floor above the vending machines and search the trash can on the railing opposite the weapon vending machine.
  • Search laundry – Head to the upper left rooms of the Auger HQ and open the third laundry machine from the left.
  • Search grill – Head outside of Belton’s Bore and open the grill on the left, closest to the rock wall.

How to Spawn and Kill the Art Critics to Kill

After searching the girl, you’ll be attacked by Rhokia, a Ripper who doesn’t like Allen’s work. Rhokia is supposed to drop down from a cave above the grill, but he’ll be joined by other enemies as well. If only Rhokia appears, go back to the main menu and return to the area. Keep doing this until you’ve defeated about 4 or 5 Ripper enemies, including Rhokia.

How to Find All Chair Pieces

Okay, so for this part of the game, you need to track down all five pieces of the chair and put them together. I found a video that shows the fastest way to do it, which is super helpful! But don’t worry if you prefer to explore on your own – I’ve also included some pictures and descriptions below so you can find everything at your own speed.

  • Found on the right wall of the main gate to Belton’s Bore
  • Found to the right through the walkway entrance to Belton’s Bore
  • Found to the left of the Belton’s Bore Fast Travel Station in the west area
  • Found on the bottom floor of Belton’s Bore in a shack within the north east area
  • Found on the top floor of the north east area, up the stairs past where you searched the trash for the assembly instructions.

Should You Sell the Chair or Destroy the Chair?

After you’ve put the chair together, you’ll need to decide what to do with it. Wrenching Allen is strangely impressed with your creation and gives you two options: you can sell him the chair, or you can destroy it to spare the world from its… unique appearance. Here’s what happens depending on which choice you make:

  • Sell chair – Wrenching Allen judges you for making a “capitalist” decision, but rewards extra Cash, before saying that the decision was actually an artistic one.
  • Kill chair – Wrenching Allen will simply admire the destruction of the chair and say “Oh, brilliant!” in awe.

Players have a hidden third choice: they can choose to kill Wrenching Allen. Interestingly, the rewards are identical no matter which of the three options they select, and his death is announced with the same audio clip used when the chair is destroyed.
