Daidara Bocchi is a massive, ancient spirit sealed within a shrine at Horie’s Castle in Nioh 3. When players reach Lake Hamana, they must find a way to reseal it by completing the ‘Disaster at Hamana Lake’ myth. Here’s a guide on how to do that.
How To Trigger Disaster At Lake Hamana Myth In Nioh 3
When players first enter Lake Hamana in Nioh 3, a giant yokai will rise from the water and attack. Nekomata will then ask them to find a way to pacify this yokai, Daidara Bocchi, because it poses a serious threat, beginning the ‘Disaster at Lake Hamana’ mythic tale.
Start by turning right at the lake’s entrance to approach the demon. Continue forward towards the distant archway, dodging the attacks from Daidara. You’ll encounter smaller enemies, but you can safely ignore them—Daidara’s attacks will likely defeat them. There are rocks in the golden craters around the area you can use for cover, but be aware that the demon can quickly destroy them.
How To Calm Daidara Bocchi In Nioh 3
To soothe Daidara Bocchi in Nioh 3, you need to climb to the top of Horie Castle and put the stone back where it belongs. Look for the hidden archway leading to the castle – it’s located between the two large rocks. Once inside, activate the Shrine and head left. Be prepared to fight some enemies along the path, as they will chase you.
When you enter the ruined Horie Castle, be careful of the yokai guarding the path down to the lower level. You’ll find even more enemies near the docks and boats. Once you’ve defeated them, go upstairs and interact with the Shrine. You can use Amrita to rest and level up, as a difficult battle is ahead.
Leaving the Shrine, turn left because the path straight ahead is blocked. You’ll encounter a large enemy guarding the building’s entrance, so you’ll need to defeat it. Once inside, you can relax in a Hot Spring located behind one of the doors. Don’t forget to unlock the shortcut back to the Shrine before continuing on.
Take out the enemy currently feeding on the body and get ready for battle. If you’re near a Benevolent Grave in Nioh 3, you can use an Ochoko Cup to call in an NPC ally for help. You’ve likely fought this type of enemy before, but be warned – this one is tougher. Once you defeat it, go upstairs.
How To Complete Disaster At Lake Hamana Myth In Nioh 3
It looks like something is needed to activate the pedestal. Players can find clues about the Shrine Keystone – likely the item used to seal Daidara Bocchi – by examining a nearby body and hearing their last thoughts. After checking the body, head left and approach the smaller Crucible. Defeat the enemies attacking you, then destroy the Crucible. You’ll then be able to see the Shrine Keystone at the top of the stairs.
Hold the Keystone and walk back all the way to the pedestal.
Once placed in its designated location, Daidara Bocchi ceased its attacks and retreated back under the lake, effectively sealed away.
Completing the Disaster at Lake Hamana quest in Nioh 3 earns you several rewards, such as the Daidara Bocchi Soul Core and a Ninja’s Locks.
If you place the core in the Yang position, you can summon Daidara Bocchi’s head to perform a powerful attack that might knock enemies off balance. Placing it in the Yin position instead grants you the Sloth Talisman, which slows down enemy movement.
Finishing the Disaster at Hamana Lake quest will start a new side quest called Horie’s Fleeting Petals, which you can find in the Shrine’s Battle Scroll area.
