How to Catch a Tsuchinoko in MGS Delta: Snake Eater

In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, you’ll find numerous creatures to catch, but the most elusive among them is the legendary Tsuchinoko. Catching a Tsuchinoko will earn you the Believe It or Not trophy/achievement in Metal Gear Solid Delta. Moreover, capturing this rare creature is also essential for unlocking additional useful items within the game.

Finding a Tsuchinoko in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater isn’t as straightforward as it sounds, and they only appear in designated parts of the game. Unlike other animals, the Tsuchinoko doesn’t just roam freely; you’ll need to set up Mousetraps and hope for the best. Here’s where to catch a Tsuchinoko in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Tsuchinoko Locations in Metal Gear Solid Delta

You can only capture a Tsuchinoko in these specific locations:

  • Dremuchij (North/South/Swampland)

  • Graniny Gorki South
  • Svyatogornyj (South/West)
  • Sokrovenno (North/South/West)

In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Tsuchinoko can only be found in specific areas. Keep your Mousetraps ready for these locations: Dremuchij, Chyornyj Prud, and Bolshaya Past South are situated before the first confrontation with The Pain. On the other hand, Graniny Gorki and Svyatogornyj can be found near The Fear’s boss battle, while Sokrovenno is where you’ll find The End’s arena.

How to Capture a Tsuchinoko in Snake Eater

In the game “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater”, the elusive creature known as Tsuchinoko can only be captured using a metal mousetrap. Unlike other creatures, it remains invisible to the naked eye and even thermal goggles or sensors cannot detect it. To catch one, simply place a mousetrap in designated zones and wait for it to snare something. If you’re fortunate, that caught creature will be a Tsuchinoko!

As a fan of hunting down pests, I find that occasionally targeting other local creatures aids in minimizing their encounters with my trusty Mousetraps. By reducing the animal population, I increase my chances of successfully capturing the elusive Tsuchinoko.

In the game Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the most convenient spot to catch a Tsuchinoko is Bolshaya Past South. You’ll reach this location following your encounter with Ocelot at Rassvet, which is where you discovered Sokolov during the Virtuous Mission.

First off, you’ll need mouse traps. You can find two of them: one at the Bolshaya Past Base, which is located in the area right after Bolshaya Past South. In the wooden provisions shed, right in the center of the area, you’ll discover the first one. The second one can be found under the bed near the Kerotan frog within the central building.

After getting the Mousetraps, make your way to Bolshaya Past South and set them up a short distance inside the location. Then, keep running between Bolshaya Past South and Bolshaya Past Base until the traps catch something. This could take several attempts, but eventually, you’ll catch a Tsuchinoko. You can use this method in any area where Tsuchinokos spawn.

During the course of the game, Snake will temporarily misplace all his gear. At this juncture, the Tsuchinoko will go missing as well, so do remember to recover it later on. You can find it in Tikhogornyj following your reunion with EVA. Once you meet her by the waterfall and receive your equipment back, venture back outside and utilize the Thermal Goggles to scan the area for the Tsuchinoko moving about.

In the game ‘Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’, there is only one Tsuchinoko creature. Avoid consuming it as holding onto it till the end of the game will grant you the Infinity face paint. This special camouflage provides infinite ammunition, a scarcely obtained reward within ‘MGS Delta’. Ensure you keep that elusive snake with you no matter the circumstances.
