How to catch Crayfish in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Catching crayfish in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 seems simple, but it’s surprisingly tricky. It’s part of the ‘Our Daily Bread’ side quest in the Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC, where you need to gather supplies for the Monastery. After learning crayfish are considered a cheap alternative to salmon, you’re tasked with catching eight of them. However, finding them – and doing so while avoiding guards – can be quite a challenge. Having successfully completed it myself, here’s a guide on how to do it.

How to get Crayfish in the Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC

To catch Crayfish for the quest “Our Daily Bread”, you need to do the following:

  1. Head to the marked area of ponds (the Hatcheries) on the West side of the Monastery.
  2. Get into the water and crouch, so you’re as close to the surface as possible.
  3. Slowly walk around the ponds, listening for a rattling sound.
  4. Once you do, home in on the noise. Once it’s as loud as it can get, look down into the water and you should see a Red Crayfish, perhaps half hidden by a rock.
  5. Interact with the Crayfish to pick it up.

You can find Crayfish in the pond in the eastern herb garden, but you won’t be able to catch enough there to complete the quest’s requirement of 8. Remember, you’re also trying to avoid the guards while doing this – don’t break quarantine, and keep an eye out for patrols!

You can unlock a hidden Achievement/Trophy here called “Ostraconophobia,” which is earned by being killed by a crayfish pinch. Crayfish sometimes slightly damage Henry when you pick them up. To get the achievement, just make sure Henry is very low on health so that even a small pinch will defeat him! It’s a good idea to save your game beforehand.
