After you get comfortable with island life in Heartopia, fishing transforms from a simple hobby into a great way to earn money (Gold) and fill out your journal. While some fish are easy to catch, others require you to find specific locations and conditions to reel them in.

False Scad is a fish you can catch in the ocean during the early and middle parts of the game. It’s a step up from river fishing, but not as challenging as deep-sea fishing. False Scad is a Level 2 fish that you can catch fairly early in the game Heartopia. It’s a good fish to practice on once you’ve gotten the hang of the basic fishing controls.

You can find False Scad in the Zephyr Sea, one of the oceans around the island. This means you’ll need to fish in the ocean, not in rivers or lakes. You can access this area by exploring the coast or by using a boat from the Fishing Village. The good news is that False Scad can be caught at any time of day, in any weather, making it easy to find!

Keep an eye out for fish shapes about medium size swimming in the open ocean. False Scad usually lay their eggs a little further out than fish that live in rivers, so try casting your line further out to improve your chances of catching them.

As long as you’re in Zephyr Sea and meet the level requirement, the False Scad can appear.
