How To Catch & Mega Evolve Tasugiri in Pokemon Legends Z-A (Tatsugirite Location)

Mega Tatsugiri is a brand-new Mega Evolution introduced in Pokemon Legends Z-A: Mega Dimension. If you’re curious about this Water and Dragon-type Pokemon, here’s everything you need to know.

This guide provides a complete overview of this unique Mega Evolution, including how to obtain the necessary evolution stone, the best moves to teach it, how to distribute Effort Values, and the ideal Nature to choose.

How To Get Tatsugiri & Mega Tatsugiri in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension

To encounter and capture Mega Tatsugiri in the Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, you’ll need to advance through the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey Missions. Specifically, finish the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey Nº2 and then speak with Corbeau to get the location of a new Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon.

Head north of Rogue Plaza to the Sushi High Roller Restaurant. You’ll find Korrine waiting for you inside. Go in to challenge the Sushi in a tough fight to prove who’s best.

Mega Tatsugiri keeps many of the same attacks as its normal form, but they’re much more powerful after Mega Evolving. It’s best not to engage it directly, and definitely dodge the orange spheres (Roe Attack) – they deal massive damage and can quickly knock out your trainer.

Okay, so I finally beat Mega Tatsugiri, and it was awesome! Now I get to catch a regular Tatsugiri – the Curly Form, which is super cute – and I also got the Tatsugirite! That’s the key item I need to Mega Evolve it. Now I’m really excited to dive into its stats, what moves it can learn, and how to build the best possible team around this quirky little Pokemon!

Is Mega Tatsugiri Any Good in Pokemon Legends Z-A PvE/PvP?

Honestly, Tatsugiri is a standout among the new Mega Evolutions in the Mega Dimension DLC. Its base stat total reaches 575, which isn’t quite at the level of Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, but it’s more than enough for this particular evolution.

Mega Tatsugiri gets a significant boost to its Speed (increasing to 92) and Special Defense (up to 125), along with smaller increases to Special Attack and Attack. While the Attack boost isn’t very helpful, as Tatsugiri performs better as a Special Attacker, the overall stat distribution is decent. It can be a bit challenging to build around, but a well-built Tatsugiri is incredibly powerful.

Here’s something interesting: Players who have the Mega Dimension DLC can find a special vendor that trades Mega Shards for a variety of new TMs.

To get the most out of its Special Attack, choose either the Modest or Timid nature for your Pokémon. Then, use this EV spread to make it a quick special attacker: 252 Special Attack, 4 Special Defense, and 252 Speed.

For its moveset, choose Waterfall, Draco Meteor, Surf, and Nasty Plot. Consider replacing Surf with Ice Beam – even though it’s not a ‘same-type attack bonus’ move, it’s very helpful against the many Dragon-type Pokémon you’ll encounter in PvP battles.

Focus on battling around the edges of the arena and use Draco Meteor whenever you get the chance. Boost your Special Attack with Nasty Plot, then hit hard with Surf and Waterfall, which can really trouble strong attackers and bulky Pokémon like Mega Evolutions. Don’t forget Ice Beam for keeping opponents in check – it has good range and a quick recharge time. It’s not a flawless strategy, but it can be very effective against Mega Evolutions.

Just to clarify, Mega Tatsugiri doesn’t actually have three separate forms. No matter which Tatsugiri form you start with, they all evolve into the same Mega evolution.
