How to Change Playbooks in Madden 26

In Madden 26, your playbook dictates the positions and movements of your players once the ball is hiked. It plays a crucial role in both offense and defense, as having a diverse playbook with unpredictable plays that maximize your team’s strengths will make scoring touchdowns and defending against the opposing team more straightforward. In Franchise mode, Ultimate Team, and Quick Play, the game automatically assigns a playbook for you. Yet, if you’d rather use another team’s (or custom) playbook in Madden 26, it can be adjusted accordingly.

How to Change Playbooks in Madden 26 Quick Play

To switch up the strategy in a fast-paced game, whether it’s against the AI or a friend, navigate to the ‘Settings’ option from the main menu. In the ‘Game Options’ tab, you’ll discover settings for both Offensive and Defensive Playbooks. Choose one of these, then browse through them until you find the playbook that suits the team or coach you prefer, which will be your default when entering the game.

Initially, they’re configured as team-specific. This setup is ideal for beginners aiming to stay competitive. Yet, for those who are strategic or wish to explore different teams and strategies, an option to play with preferred teams and adopt other strategies could be beneficial.

How to Change Playbooks in Ultimate Team

In Ultimate Team, switching up playbooks isn’t quite the same. To use a specific team’s playbook, you’ll first need to have the corresponding card. By starting Madden 26 for the first time, your preferred team will automatically set your default playbook. However, if you wish to change it, you can obtain the necessary card either through a pack or by buying it from the Auction House, but remember you’ll need MUT coins for the latter.

After choosing the playbook card that suits your preference, the next step is to assign it to your team. To do this, navigate to ‘My Team’ within the main menu of Ultimate Team, followed by selecting ‘Formations’ or ‘Lineup,’ depending on the game interface.

Navigate to the ‘Tab labeled “Playbooks and Visuals”‘. On this page, you’ll notice ‘Offense’ and ‘Playbook 2’ positioned alongside your Head Coach at the top. Pick the playbook you wish to modify, followed by selecting the card representing the one you want to swap it with.

In simpler terms, ‘Playbook 2’ signifies a strategic guide focused on defense. This guide outlines the defensive positions your team will adopt during gameplay.

How to Change Playbooks in Franchise Mode

As a gamer, diving into Franchise mode, I navigate to the ‘Home’ menu and click on ‘Manage Team.’ From there, I head straight to ‘Team Schemes.’ Here, I’ve got access to both my Offensive Playbook and Defensive Playbook. I can browse through all 32 teams’ playbooks by cycling through them. Once I find the ones that feel right for me, I exit out of this menu, and voila! My new playbooks are saved.

Revising your strategy in Franchise mode could prove beneficial after a fantasy draft, since your team’s characteristics might differ significantly from those initially considered when the original playbook was created. Consequently, another team’s playbook might align more effectively with your current team now.

In Franchise mode, you can pick your custom playbooks by navigating to ‘Advanced Settings’ after opting for a ‘Full Game’. Here, all team playbooks are displayed, along with any custom or downloaded ones you may have created. It’s important to make this selection before starting each game.
