Many games in the ‘souls-like’ genre feature hidden secrets that players often don’t discover on their first try. A common thing players do is search for hidden walls – walls that look real but can be passed through to reveal treasure, powerful gear, or collectible items.
The same applies to Nioh 3, but it features a new exploration system where hidden passages are marked as Nurikabe on the map. These living walls, which blend into their surroundings, also appeared in earlier games. Here’s how players can reveal them in Nioh 3 without being flattened.
How to Open Nurikabe Walls in Nioh 3

Nurikabe walls are known for having eye-like openings that constantly watch anyone who approaches. If you try to break down the wall, it will either crush you instantly or engage you in a fight if you survive the initial impact.
If you’re low on health after fighting enemies nearby, you might want to avoid battling the Nurikabe wall. Luckily, there’s another, safer way to get past it.
If you’re going to try and overcome the wall, it’s best to attack from afar using your Ninjutsu skills to give yourself an advantage.

When you reach the Nurikabe wall, find a red grave. You don’t have to battle the ghost; just move your cursor over it to see how it died. The description will say something like, “Crushed to death by Nurikabe for their hostile behavior.” It might even say that for neutral actions, but what’s important is to pay attention to the color of the final two words in the description.
Now that you’ve learned the details, go near the Nurikabe and open your gestures menu by pressing the emote button (R1/RB + Start/Options). You’ll see three different colored gestures. Choose and perform a gesture that isn’t the color mentioned in the grave note. For example, if the note mentions red, use either the blue or yellow gesture.
If you try one of the gestures and it’s wrong, Nurikabe’s eyes will flash red, but it won’t attack. You’ll still have another try, and you can use the other color gesture to make Nurikabe disappear and get its rewards.
If you can reach the back of the wall, you can remove the talisman and it will disappear.
